It also made more sense back then as pony was still a meme. Everywhere was crowded.
Not really a thing any more - I'm not one of these who thinks "the fandom is dying, the sky is falling!" (people said that in 2012-2013 haha), heck I'm part of a brand new local meet that got founded 2 months ago and it's going great, but it's definitely past the 'big bang' taking-over-internet era where every man and his dog was jumping on the bandwagon so there's a lot more room for consolidation.
Unity is alright. I prefer MATE. :)>>9586
Well, can't really put it into context as I'm not sure who you are (or would know the details if I did). But don't beat yourself up.
For one thing, let's just step back for a moment - we're treating this like the House of Commons and like we just bombed Iraq or something (pardon the Britishisms), and I'm just as bad for doing this. It's a fun little pony site on the internet. If they all went away tomorrow, the world would keep turning and we'd still be out there making new friends, maintaining existing ones and enjoying the things we enjoy. Nothing about any of this is worth wanting to erase yourself from anything or anything for!
Secondly, hindsight is 20/20. I believed in the splintering myself back in the day, and just happen to have seen the mess that tribalism has made of the world recently and associate it somewhat with this. Now it seems the wrong idea. Some thought it was all along, good for them, people have different opinions and hey... sometimes they're proven right? *shrug*
