Oh shit I forgot about that thread lol. That guy wrote a lot of words in an autism fit after I made an admittedly dumb oopsie, but really that thread is useless and doesn't have anything that isn't in the README.md in the repo
so I wouldn't bother.
As for deployment, while you technically can deploy it on your server mostly as-is, I don't recommend it, since you'll probably want to make some changes, like replacing the site name, slogan, and various resources to suit your site. For deployment, I'd look at /vagrant/bootstrap.sh
in the repo to see what packages are required and what configuration needs to be done to make it usable with php and nginx. You'll obviously want to change some things for your server, like setting a MySQL password and a few other things. Eventually I might create a Docker container to make this kind of thing easier, but that's not a priority right now.
