Name
?

This field is optional. You can choose any name you want, or you can post anonymously by leaving this field empty.

Tripcodes are a way to identify yourself between posts without having to register with the site. To use a tripcode, enter your name as ‹name›#‹key›.You can choose anything you want as the key—it is private and will never be shown to other posters or stored on the server. For example:

Rarity#bestpony → Rarity!.4PK7yxdII

If you want a tripcode containing specific words, you can download a program designed to search for tripcodes, such as Tripcode Explorer.

Email?

Entering an e-mail is optional.

There are also code words you can enter here which perform certain actions when you submit your post.

  • sage — lets you post without bumping a thread.
  • nonoko — uses the original post behavior to redirect to the board index.

These can be used at the same time as an e-mail address by typing ‹email›#‹action›.

You can also use Skype names in place of an e-mail. The notation is the same as a link to a username on skype itself, which is skype:‹username›

Site Feedback ## ModCountry code: ponychan.png, country type: customflag, valid: 1574[Last 50 Posts]

Hello everyone.

We've decided to create a feedback thread so that you can share with us your thoughts and opinions on Ponychan as it stands right now.

Topics this includes that we would like particular feedback on include:

Members of Staff.
Rules.
Board Structure.
Handling of reports/Issues.

Or anything else that you feel you would like to discuss with the members of staff to improve the site.

Members of Staff

Never had a problem with them personally. Wish Fen would write more often, I miss his letters. ;~;

Rules

Fair enough? I never had a problem with the rules either.

Board Structure

Pretty succinct and easy to pick. I'll go to /pony/ for MLP things, /anon/ when I'm bored, and I diddle between /ooc/ and /rp/ the most. I'm pretty content in this category.

Handling Issues/Reports

The only time I reported something was for an accidental double-thread, and the thread was cleaned up pretty quickly by a mod.

>shrug

So overall, good job?

Including more buttons like the "view last 50 posts" seems like it would just crowd the screen a bit. I'd rather do a more general solution like making the "X posts ommitted" text have a button to load in more posts (probably 50 or 100 at a time). Small mock-up in my image.

Fine. From a "running the site" standpoint, they all seem to be doing fine

Fine. /oat/ has more /pol/ shit and lewdposting than I would personally like, but I understand that's what everyone else wants
>Board structure
/ooc/ still exists even though we agreed to remove it and only reinstate it if there was a pressing reason to. Also /gala/ is still called /gala/ instead of /chat/ for some reason
>handling of reports
No problems that I've seen, staff seems to be relatively on the ball on handling reports in a timely manner. I haven't had any personal experience with how they deal with it, but there doesn't seem to be any real outcry that I've seen, so everything is probably working fine

can we move the report button back to each post, like ponii-chan used to
it's a pain having to scroll all the way to the bottom to report, then it sends you back to the main page of the board

that's the only real thing bothering me right now about the site

I hate to bring this up especially since it was added just recently, but could we look into adjusting the the edit feature and the time period they can be done in? I just saw a thread on /oat/ and it had gone like 40 or 50 posts in and then had the OP post be edited. I think the current time limit is 2 hours as I've heard, it sounds like a bit too much.

I mean it's not a huge problem but I can see it becoming bothersome. It also is the only problem I could think of, which goes to show that I'm happy with everything else, I think.

I like that some of you guys post frequently on /oat/
I assume that those of you who I don't spot there hang out in different boards/post as anons once in a while.

>Rules.

If they could be changed so that you could stop those guys posting shitty threads over and over again in /oat/ somehow it would be nice.

>Board Structure.

No issues. But I rarely venture outside /oat/

>Handling of reports/Issues.

Apart from a few holes with missing moderation and slow response times I haven't noticed any issues.

>Long running issues I have with staff

I've always been saying I would like you guys to be more open on what's going on behind the scenes. Just a small update once in a while would be nice. What are current issues you're discussing or looking into etc.

I'm also sad to see things like the feature request thread and the bugfix thread has just been left and nobody cares enough about it to update the OP of those. That has been an issue EVERY time something like that has been done.

Even i admit that a lot has improved lately! i think that's a very good sign for the future of Ponychan.

i'd like to ask for stricter moderation concerning harassment though? Particularly maybe, anonymous harassment.

enforcement is not always consistent in that regard, and more work in that area would go a very long way.

2) Mod Marimo

3) convince the U.S. Congress to invest at least 2% of the annual budget apiece into NASA, developing Generation III+ nuclear reactors, infrastructure, and a particle accelerator that would dwarf CERN.

The staff is great. I don't even notice people are staff. Which is good.

Rules are generally okay. /oat/ needs help acting in an appropriate manner most of the time, like a young child that needs to be switched, but for the most part, things seem okay.

Board structure is really good. I'm glad you made an /anon/ board and condensed stuff, like /fan/. Its pretty cool.

I've never really had any reason to report, but issues don't seem to be solved well, if at all, in /oat/. /oat/ is pretty fucked all considered.

I could do with some stricter moderation of NSFW content. The merger plans involved this being not allowed on boards other than /anon/, which is reasonable; but that only works if it's enforced fairly strictly. I see rather more of it on /oat/ in particular than I would like.

I'm glad to see that boundaries are being tightened a little on /oat/. However, I do think Grimes' gripes regarding lack of clarification are valid; there has been a shift in enforcement but no official word on what types of threads specifically are disallowed.

On a similar note, a few weeks ago in an /oat/ thread I mentioned that I felt telling people "kill yourself" should be bannable, and was messaged in private by a moderator saying that it was in fact a bannable offense. Enforcement of this seems to be somewhat inconsistent, though, and it wasn't actually specified publicly on-site by staff as far as I can tell.

In general, I think more transparency and clear, on-site definition as to what is and isn't okay and how it will be dealt with would be beneficial.

Ok so usually I try and stay out of these things, but mods...I have to say something.

I know the recent 'shitpost' type threads on oat and the spamming is annoying, but I think you need to leave it to the users to ignore/sage them. They aren't breaking any rules and are really only just kind of annoying. I understand you might want to clean up the board and make it nicer, but I really feel like this is over stepping it.

No one is getting hurt by those threads, so there is no reason why the users can't deal with them how they want.

Also , give me your mod passwords or make me a janitor so i can delete Grimes threads

Ok, guys, look.

I know be a site moderator isn't always easy, but what's been going on on /oat/ the last couple days has really got me worried about the future of the board.

https://www.ponychan.net/oat/res/40246049+50.html

I really don't think you need to move a whole thread to the trash because one poster merely mentions something that is against the rules. He didn't violate a rule, he was simply being a little shit and asking people to do something shitty. No one gave him the time of the day, so it didn't cause a problem.

I don't think it was necessary to move that whole thread. I think it would have been better to give the guy a smack on the hand and tell him that starting raids is against the rules, and then deleting the posts that mentioned raiding.

Please guys. I truly do appreciate that you guys volunteer your time to make this site a good place, but actions like these are not necessary and it seriously makes me worry about the site and what it will become.

The tech threads were a very make-do setup at the start of the merge. It's not that we're ignoring those bugs, it's just that the higher priority features (like the edit button) have been handled already and some other missing site features (like purple text) were supposed to be deep-sixed anyways. There's a physical to-do list inside our repository that's planned to be open-sourced. I'll pass on the suggestion to make a public to-do list for the time being. And I'll try to be more diligent on keeping you guys in-the-know with our progress from now on.

Right now, we're focusing on improving the mod tools because the lack of usability has been a pretty major problem recently as demonstrated during the spam attacks. One of the bigger reasons, for example, why mods were able to react quickly to reports on pre-merge ponychan is because it notified all mods of a new report as soon as it would be submitted, so as soon as you'd load a page, a dialog box will tell you 'There are x new reports' and would point you to the report list. It was also much easier to delete multiple posts at a time. My point is, Tinyboard never had such features and were always low-priority requests on former MLPchan, but now that our traffic has gone up and rule enforcement has to be more prompt, our focus is currently on getting these tools working and are at the top of our to-do list.

I am planning to release the site code as freely licensed sometime, so LibreJS support isn't ruled out. LibreJS is a neat idea, though the site javascript goes through a build process and has code bundled in it from a ton of other differently (but freely) licensed projects, and the LibreJS site does not make it obvious at all how that should be handled. I could make the build process concatenate all of their licenses together as a comment at the top of the javascript bundle, though I can't tell if even that would satisfy LibreJS.

I would like to report that one of your moderators (admiral) banned a poster (Sagara Sousuke) after he was harassed and verbally abused by several other posters when he started retaliating against them.

This is the thread:https://www.ponychan.net/oat/res/40409823+50.html

This is a disgusting, and unacceptable thing that happened, and I'm shocked that a moderator would do something so absolutely objectable as to defend the posters who were acting in blatant disregard for the site rules and turn on a poster who decided he had enough. This is wrong, and I request that he be spoken to about properly carrying out his duties, in a method that deals with those who are in the wrong, not those who try to retaliate when somebody starts abusing them!

AnonymousCountry code: ponychan.png, country type: customflag, valid: 2356

>>2355
I'd also like him to make an apology to the poster who was wrongly banned, and bans be handed out to those individuals who were acting against the rules by attacking Sousuke and others during the entire thread. JasmineGAY,ScyphTlOY6, have been waging a harassment and verbal abuse campaign against Sousuke and another user in the past week, with no reprimands or bans handed out, with Admiral (who claimed he was an admin now btw) standing by in the thread doing absolutely nothing to help him, despite reports being put in against them. Only to have him ban Sousuke after he started pushing back against their abuse.

He's not an admin. He just brings up the fact that he was one for a little while at every possible opportunity, because he was so ineffectual and unnoticed while he was that no one remembers it and no one cares, and he wasn't even considered by the rest of the people involved to keep that position after the merge, though he only eveb had it in the first place because he personally knew Inkwell IRL. To your point about that thread, Sousuke is zealous at times but no ban was warranted, Jasmine and Scyph are shitposters who push people and have no problem harassing people they don't like and do so with impugnity because shitty mods like Admiral have no true objectivity and shouldn't be mods in the first place.

Okay first of all, going anon to make this complaint accomplishes nothing but turns it into a public spectacle for the mods while leaving yourself unscathed, so this comment is merely to draw attention to that fact and bring us to a level playing field, as it were.

Second, i just read through the thread you linked and all i saw was sousake starting to attack / harrass people because he disagreed with Doc lee on something and it spiralled from there because Usui joined in and kept continuing it.
Or they both kept continuing it, i honestly got confused a bit since their anime images seem to be from the same show while their speech patterns were also similar and my usual method of following the reply chain was rendered impotent.
Maybe if paid more attention to them both i'd be able to pick them out easier, but eh.

The reason why sousake got banned? He flat out admitted to purposely breaking one of our rules after a mod directly asked if he was doing it.
>Stalking, harassment, or posting of others' personal information are prohibited.

Mods usually stay out of inter-user arguments if both or all parties are giving as good as their getting, which was the situation until earlier.
The other alternative is to ban everyone involved.
There's a reason we always tell people to Filter, Ignore and Report instead of retaliating, it makes the situation extremely easy to resolve and not drag out for several hours.
We've also had situations in the past where the person being 'harrassed' ask us why the hell we banned their friend.

Third, do you even know how long that ban was?
The ban was over roughly 15 minutes after you posted this and was more of a slap on the wrist than anything else.

Fourth, i dont know who you sent an email to but i didnt get it, macil hasnt been on so i dont know if he got it either.

Fifth, He mentioned he was an admin in response to sousake saying this.

>I would've thought my presence as a poster from practically the beginning of this site would give me some sort of notoriety but that was apparently completely wrong.

>I honestly thought that being admin would have given me some noteriety on this site, but I don't particularly care.

Hardly overstating his position since it's been common knowledge that he's a regular mod since the site merge and also states his position on the home page if one were to look.

Finally, i will say that the one thing he did wrong was not using his mod tag in the post preceding or following the ban, which i have told him about.

>>2360
Calmly button it, admiral was in the right here and i'll ask you to stop insulting him.

Literally looking at our mod log.

He initially banned him for a day.
He then dismissed some reports.
Then banned him for 26 minutes.
Then removed the previous ban.

These are all directly after each other and within the same hour, so i assume he changed his mind after four minutes and decided it was only worth a half hour ban, which i agree with.

Ask sousake if he actually tried to post since then, since our ban screens probably dont go away until you actually look at them once, i cant remember if thats a thing.

>>2372
I'm not implying anything, i'm outright stating that sousake had an argument with doc lee and then usui jumped in with a dumb semantics argument, and then he responded to sombody who said "Lol so much drama" with "Because I'm dealing with one hell of a dense motherfucker who keeps saying one thing, then contradicting it by not knowing what terminology is, or forgetting that he just said something completely different that what he's currently saying. It's annoying."

Essentially, if we want to go with "The person who starts it first should get the punishment" as i believe you are implying, i should therefore be banning you.
But i wont, because that kind of rule is dumb and doesnt take into account the multitude of reasons an argument can start.

TLDR: You are wrong on everything but the lack of an email, i thought our skype contacts were on there but i am obviously mistaken, i'll get macil on that.

>>2373
Tried posting, couldn't do anything. I'll see if it's still a problem later when he gets on break from his shift in two or three hours.

The problem isn't between Doc and Sousuke or Doc and Usui. The problem is between Jasmine and ScyphTlOY6 and Sousuke, who were obviously antagonizing him, which is the reason for the ban. I'm not discussing anything except the grounds for the ban, considering those two started firing the first shots.

But I suppose that won't matter from here out, since you've made your decision. So I'll respect that and move on to find out if Sousuke can post or not again.

Thank you for your time and effort in responding. Whether or not I agree, I still appreciate it.

And like i said earlier, mods stay out of inter-user arguments unless they think they can de-fuse it somehow.
To do otherwise will in most cases only exacerbate the problem rather than dealing with it.

If one user simply stops and the other doesnt, the situation is resolved in minutes.
Thank you for understanding, please let me know if he cant post because as far as the site is concerned, he should be able to.

I'll keep this short and simple. I have no problem hunting wolves who like running around in packs and harassing others. Because that's what this bullshit was, and I know you saw it.

Second, I have no reason to bother telling your moderator to enforce the damn rules, but here we are because they weren't. Impartiality breeds these people who trod on others and think themselves immune to repercussions, as was evidenced by audacity of the post toward the bottom... which also abused diction.

TL:DR version: You and I have been around long enough to know what happened and the root cause. I gave warnings, and will continue to do so... but I also will continue to kick back when these people choose to attack others or myself, regardless of your moderator's abilities in discernment.

>You've made the rules - If they aren't being enforced properly it's your problem, so don't act as though the issue lies with me Fenolio.

The rules are as follows:
Threats and flaming are not allowed.

Disruptive behaviors that prevent others from engaging in a thread are prohibited.
Stalking, harassment, or posting of others' personal information are prohibited.

When i see threats or flaming in a thread, i warn people to stop.
If two people are going at it and i'm right there in the middle of it, i ask them to take it somewhere private.
If two people have gone at it and i'm only just seeing it an hour after the fact, i make a note of the people involved and watch for a repeat occurance.
If two people are going at it to the point of derailing the thread, i warn them both to stop it and tell them to take it somewhere private.
If one person starts attacking another and that other doesn't retaliate, i warn (and subsequently ban if this isnt the first time time) the aggressor to cut it out.

Stop implying that you are being attacked by a vicious pack of animals, you are having arguments with other people, you are an active participant in said arguments.
You have just as much 'free reign' as they do, the reason you were banned for (what should have been) a short amount of time is because you flat out admitted to harassing people when a mod directly asked you about it.

I'll pass on that suggestion.

>saw the ban screens twice
for the record, if you place two bans, the second one doesn't over-ride the other. they both remain active for the full length of however long you initially put them, if that's what whoever did it thought. you have to remove the original ban, and put the new, shorter one on.

Could you please add the vichan reply/quick reply box to drag images to?

It works really well and it's probably the easiest thing you can do since it's built in vichan and you replaced it with custom JS.

Incidently do you feel like volunteering or know somebody who would want to volunteer for that job?
Might make a proper thread for it in a bit but i might as well ask.

It was pausing for the same reason your phone's music would pause if you played a YouTube video, or some other kind of media. I was once told it related to a notification sound option, but it had still been happening regardless if I had it checked or not in settings.

I'm gonna have to pull this out of my completely ignorant ass, but if I had to guess, the site would load your personal settings after the default settings of the site itself, which means the music would get paused before it even had a chance to detect that I'd had rely notification sounds disabled.

I have a few propositions:

- Put a Catalog button, or another page scrolling bar, at the TOP of the page, please. It's completely dumb to scroll down, just to get through the catalog.

- Force the anonymity on /anon/. Without that, the line on your frontpage is just a lie.

- Make an /int/.
>hurrrr we dunt need dat durrrr useless board huurrrrrr where is my burger
Ok, here is my situation. I'm not an anglo. So, my english isn't as fluent and clean as my mother tongue. I can't post /int/ threads on 4chan/mlp/. I can't post pony threads on 4chan/int/ or on imageboard made for people speaking my language. /gala/ can't be good for that, neither /oat/ nor /anon/. I created a board on 8chan; dead in 3 days. Make us a refuge
>inb4 /yeh/
Mods and janitors let spanish anons sharing CP just because they were too lazy to take a spanish janitor or even lurk /yeh/. They didn't assume that and ban every /int/ threads because of that. It was post-Scruffening.

- Equestria isn't just full of ponies, you know? Fantastic creatures like gryphons, dragons, zebras, breezies or even fanon creatures like bat ponies or moth ponies, etc, doesn't have voices or enough theories on the fandom. What about theories on gryphons? What about developping Zebrica?
It should have a board for that, too. But I don't have any idead how to name it.

- I didn't understand the issues to have a /clop/ board. Especially since the Merge. I don't requesting it one, I'm just asking why.

There is all. Have fun understanding what the fuck I'm saying.

Agree with an additional catalog button

Disagree with forced anon. There are valid reasons to occasionally use a name which we have mentioned a billion fucking times before

Disagree on any board additions.
There is literally only one thread of other language speakers and it is only used on weekends. And the fuck, if you want to talk abou5 show related shit do it. No one is stopping you. /pony/ and /anon/. Making a new board doesnt magically fucking make people more interested in talking about something.

Thanks! I recently changed the site templating code to auto-encode strings to HTML by default and tried to fix all the spots where strings shouldn't be encoded again, but it seems I missed one. I'll get that in a moment.

I started picking up on some back-end coding a few months ago. So far I have a branch containing a URL blacklist ready to be reviewed, and !!Luna has been working on a review queue for suspicious posting patterns. Unlike the bots we previously had on old ponychan, these bots change their behavior as soon as they learn there's pressure. Adding F to the mods definitely brought up our report response time nonetheless.

>>3756
Ugh, I think I even had that issue fixed in those themes that never got pushed into the live site. I can poke our admin again to finally get them pushed, but since they've gone stale again, I have to cherry pick all the theme-related updates from the past six months to make it reviewable again.

And Fyik, if you're reading this, I haven't forgotten about your work either. It's in the same branch as the rest of those themes. Whenever that branch ends up going into production, you should see your work in there too.

Anyways, we plan on eventually making the site open source, but I want coders to be prepared beforehand. It's not something I learned overnight, so by the end of this break, I'd like to have at least a handful of coders to be familiar with the codebase so they aren't intimidated to contribute when the open-sourcing ends up going through.

There doesn't seem to be any info on how to properly request a thread go to /arch/.

Also, /oat/ has been very heavy on politics lately. Couldn't serious general threads have somewhere else to go? If not then "oat" seems a poor choice of name because it's usually not very crazy at all.

(I'm not sure "amateur rabbit necropsy vid" is the right type of crazy, either, but at least it wasn't politics.)

Did you just start getting that error? What browser do you get it in? Do you have your browser configured to block Referer headers? Have you posted in the past fine with the same browser and configuration?

There should be a clear guideline of how offenses are handled (i.e. warning first then ban)

Also make nazism and racism against the rules and permanent bans. Any good forum makes a copious effort to keep it away, so I don't see how this place should be different.
