The comments on last week's episode have been criticized for being needlessly, over-dramatically harsh on an ep that was, at worst, uneven and average overall. Fair enough. What is the true bottom of the barrel, and why? What episode sticks out in your mind as the absolute worst so far? Was it defective in its concept, plotting, writing, graphics, music, acting, or what? Give us a base standard of comparison to temper our impatience with mediocrity in these Last Days.

I think my least favorite episode in recent memory was Father Knows Best. Like, way to take a deep topic and make an absolute mockery of it. We've waited 8 seasons wondering about Spike's background, and this is what we get? And then the actual emotional stuff was compact into a 30 second conclusion. Was just one great big disappointment.

I think my least favorite episode was the 100th episode, for obvious reasons.

It might seem controversial to pick out an episode from the beloved season 1, but Owl's Well That End's Well is my least favourite FiM episode of all 9 seasons. I hated it at the time. I still don't like it now.

1) Applejack’s Day Off
2) That fuckin Troubleshoes episode
3) Princess Spike

My least favorite episode, for oh, so many reasons: S3e13, "Magical Mystery Cure."

Come on, you lurkers. Pile on!

Those I like the least are simply boring episode were nothing fun goes on:

For example:

The Hooffields and McColts
Friendship is Magic Part 2
Buckball Season
Made in Manehatten

Especially Made in Manehatte was the single most boring episode in the entire show. The only fun scene was AJ ruining her hat.

This I think is why the last two episodes have been panned. Both episodes had positively nothing going on for long stretches of time, right up until the final scenes. One could argue that the worst worst worst thing the final season can do is bore you.

I cannot relate with that statement at all when it comes to episode 5. It had lots of fun scenes and tidbits; though admittedly they were all stuffed into the first half.

Mysterious mare do well.

Applejack's day off.

Two episodes where the characters felt derailed or Dumb/OOC, and plots that were just poor and not interesting.

Season 2 finale. Ohh it was sad to see the whole fandom imploding at that utter disaster. It never really recovered, once people saw what their trust in Hasbro had brought them. Carelessly shattering canon, crass toyetic moralistic indoctrination, executive meddling of the worst degree. MMC was a terrible episode, quality-wise, but ACW was outright malicious. Suddenly Rainbow Dash loved weddings, changelings were canon, Princess Cadance was canon, Vinyl Scratch had magenta eyes, Twilight had a brother, and both Shining Armor and Cadance would show up in many terrible episodes to come. Suddenly background ponies were gender corrected, suddenly Twilight was on the fast track to princesshood, which had been reduced from an inconceivable miracle to a minor achievement, by Cadance's not being a unicorn for no reason. Suddenly there were crystal mines below Canterlot that were never explored, explained, developed, or mentioned again, while instead we got an episode about Thorax, or sports.

And as soon as it came out, suddenly we've got Equestria Girls being shoved in our faces that very summer.

The show got ...better after that, but boy what a steaming carcass of an episode that was. Season 3 had 13 episodes for a reason. The company was ready to close up shop and give up after half the fan base up and left.

I mean, I remember liking it at the time but holy hell. I rewatched it and it's just riddled with problems and plotholes. MLP wasn't perfect before this but the standards for finales have gotten so much better since with the finales from seasons 4-8 that this one is just rough in comparison.

I thought the season 1 finale was pretty good. They were good on finales from season 4 onwards, I agree. I think the show stayed really good overall, and got even better in some ways.

Oh the season 1 finale was great and I like that kinda low-stakes, character driven kinda stuff in significant episode positions

Celestial Advice/All Bottled Up is one of my fave premiers for that reason.

I hope the epilogue bit at the end of the last episode takes place at the Gala.
