I lol'd on the line, "Because of the SHAME."

This ep had one of the deepest and most complex morals I've seen in this show. It was couched at the end as, "Don't try too hard to be perfect," which is a moral that the target demographic can understand. But the real moral was basically, "If you think you're a failure, try internalizing a different set of values." That's not something that can really be grasped by an eight-year-old.

In previous episodes, Twilight's obsessive anxieties have all proved to be illusory and unnecessary. But in this one, they were all real-- as long as you live in the community of the library and subscribe to its code. To escape, Dusty Pages had to reject both.

Not a moral for the target demographic.

Also, great names for the library ponies.

In the first half ye old Twi and Spike combo saved what seemed yet another twilighting/twilinanas instance, the second half mixed it up a bit.
Still not sure how I really feel about this one.

Great moral, loved the lesson.

But everything leading up to the ending was shameless padding. None of it even helped build the world or characters any, just aimless meandering around. Possibly a contender for most boring episode this season.

Yeah, sort of. The whole "Searching for Dusty Pages" business was completely unnecessary. They could have left out the Indian restaurant, the mailbag, and all the futile knocking on doors, and just sent Twilight straight from the circulation desk (or First Folio's creepy basement office) to the retirement community. But the initial business with the overdue book was a key plot device, and the examination of the box's contents had some nice bits in it.

The box and note tell us that Celestia is cleaning out the castle to make room for the new occupant(s). But... why not save postage and wear and tear on the mailmare, and just leave the box in the castle for Twilight to find when she moves in?

I notice that Derpy is still "Muffins" in the VA credits.

I was a lot more interested in that box of Twilight's old stuff than I was anything later on, to be honest.

Also, cleaning out the castle? I don't remember the letter exactly, but why would Twilight's old stuff have been in the castle? Kind of surprised no one had taken her old dorm-brary in all that time though. Heck it was completely locked until Twilight gave Moondancer the key.

9.5/10 best episode of the season so far.

I enjoyed returning to an episode that focused solely on one of the Mane 6 having an introspective journey regarding one of her weaknesses. Maybe I also just found the tie to the pilot episode to be nostalgic. There was also solid humor throughout (like Twilight in the bushes, and Spike giving Indian food recommendations). I don't know. I'm bad at explaining these things.

That was a decent episode. It was nice to see characters like Moon Dancer or Derpy again or the indian food restaurant. Also nice callback to episode one. Still, it the episode dragged on at times.

Actually it was much better the second time around.
