Well, I was one of the four people who hadn't seen it yet.
Nice character design on the kirin. I especially liked the Celesta analog (Rain Shine). I hope we learn more about these creatures. But are those cloven hooves, or turtle shell foot caps, or what?
One of the best morals in the series.
The speech problems of the expelled loner kirin (Autumn Blaze) were a nice detail. Her Crazytown pathologies -- the named shadow, the row of imaginary friends, talking to her left hoof -- were striking and funny, but also kind of distracting. I couldn't help feeling that such big psychological defects in such a central figure should have been cleared up, at least in passing and to some degree. The time needed to bring her back to herself could have been freed up by dinging out the Phantom of the Opera insert, which struck me as digressive, pointless, and probably confusingly meaningless to a lot of the target audience. The sightseeing tour of Majestic Rainbow Country could also have been downplayed and shortened.
Somehow, this episode had a strange flavor to it, different from the rest of the show. I'm not sure what the difference is. Too many disconnects in the script? Or maybe it's just unusually talky? That would be ironic.
