Why are we lumping these two episodes together just because they were released at the same time? Well im just happy to have a place to discuss them with people who still watch pony.
I never liked discord, but he was really changing that in the tea party ep with his vulnerability and his willingness to accept others in the DnD ep. But here, he's regressed right back to being no one's friend and instead of torturing the adults for attention, which has at least SOME merit, he terrorized the students which was really deconstructive, unfair, disrespectful and just all-around sociopathic. Boo discord, go home.
I loved Starlight's demonstration of power, and i felt her dialing it back to apologizing was taking it a lot further than discord deserved. Yes, no one included him but, he's already learned several times now that you have to be at least...trying not to annoy people if you want to be included. I get that he felt left out. But he didn't even ask anyone, or even mope or give any kind of cues before masterminding a major deception and kicking the place over. Yes, we get it: not everyone can internalize the basics. But this is just way too far and we're lucky if no one ends up in therapy for having survived it.
Still, for those who aren't diggin the new school, this was probly a good tension-release. And Starlight was great.
As to hearthswarming whodunnit, the killer's in this room ep...having just finished it a minute ago, i'm not sure what to think about it. I don't like Twi's use of authority, it rubs me wrong and while i do like her in command i'm not really feeling her heart in the way she imposes her punishments etc. I dunno, probly just me.
Neither of these eps made me cry, so i can't rate them competently. Maybe if i rewatch them a few times i'll warm up to them. >>36829065
Omigosh yes the Twi wig, i did love that.>>36829073
Oh yes i loved that for however exhaustive Twiggy's instructions are, she really left a lot of unfortunate under-explanation in there.>>36829080
Do you feel that way about his tea party for Flutters ep? I agree except for that one and infiltrating the hive...>>36829082
But, discord didnt just want to have fun. He sent the 6 on a wild goose chase just so he could try to take advantage of starlight's friendship. He acted out especially when she snubbed him, but i think what was good here was Starlight's struggling to figure out why he was acting that way and the right thing to do.
You know what, this is classic Hasbro here. Discord got completely thrown under the bus to create the tension Glimmy needed to have a difficult problem to prevail. I really don't find Discords malevolence here believable, its like they stripped him of everything they built him up with.
Dammit Hasbro. Well, i'll live and so will that half-mule snakey character i suppose.
