At last, somepony else who doesn't like that awful caricature show. I am so tired of hearing how great it is especially from my gf who uses it to "understand" my autism.
Stick in the Mud has the most annoying haircut and voice EVER and i was disappointed Pinky didn't go full cupcakes on him. Nonetheless, as fake and exasperating as he is, i really enjoyed Maud smiling. I'm not sure if we've ever seen her smile before?
I loved Pinky's sisters and i really relate to Pinky's difficulty in regulating her behavior faced with such a challenge. That her issue was largely created by a long-running "giving-in" by Maud to spare her feelings was poignant too, and i believe was the deeper lesson here. It can really hurt to find out a loved one has been putting up with things about your (my) social skills far too long and while good-intentioned only enables a lack of development of those social skills.
While the Mudstick autism was appallingly caricatured (as a knockoff of an awful autism caricature character), the effect of Maud's historical lack of confronting Pinky's social skills seemed deeply realistic and applicable to my life.
