Huh, I live in DC, and I'm on vacation in Florida right now, and in both places, the Keyforge community is huge and thriving, with friendly local game stores selling packs by the box to dozens of active players, and tourneys every couple weeks. Seems like the biggest shit since Magic. I'm pumped.
Where do you live? Your card store might have tourneys and just doesn't rep them well, you never know.
Yeah, the lack of boosters is sooo overwhelmingly nice. Last month, I walked in, bought one deck, and it was amazing and fun, and I've been learning to pilot it ever since. One deck gave me everything I needed, and it's really always that way, and it's great.
Then I bought a whole box of decks anyway.
All card games should be so accessible and fair.
Yeah, I guess my brain fries when there's progress in a game. It's why in video games, I almost exclusively play roguelikes. I hate having to keep track of a narrative.
That said, I am really, really loving Betrayal Legacy. It's been such a crazy, crazy ride. People have killed little girls, buried horrors beneath the floorboards to stay there forever, lived supernaturally long lives, and drowned in rats. It's magnificent.
I've never liked chess. Abstract strategy games with identical starting board states every single game bore me to tears. With the expansion set of cards, it basically becomes impossible to ever play the same game twice, and that's enchanting.
My other great love is Santorini. Abstract strategy with player powers, sign me the hell up!
