Decided to ask here, are greentexts usually allowed or done here? Presuming this would've been the best board for it since it is basically donut steels and other fanfiction.

I can see that. Why are the boards here so isolated? Any other iteration of my posts tell me that they're spam so I can't link to anything that I save my greens at.

I hope they are some fun greentexts.

After enough goofing around, I realized that ponechan just doesn't like my VPN.
I've written on the flutterrape/bootleg/rape threads, along with a few other things. If this post actually works, we may be good to go.

>>3843 Have you tried fimfiction? I'm not sure if this sort of thing is allowed there or not.

>>3848 In glancing over these, I'm immediately reminded of the interactive fiction format.

I just picked one at random that didn't have "rape" in the description and started reading. turned out it was part four of "Jacky". I'm about halfway through it. It's a nice enough story so far, but the dialogue is hard to follow at times when "other" people/ponies are talking since there's often no real indication about who is speaking, especially when the PoV character abruptly changes. ">Be me" is one of the most unusual transitions I've ever encountered. But the main thing I'd like to know is, how long did it take you to write this? This thing is massive.

The innuendo seems odd, perhaps because I don't know what happened in parts 1-3, so I'm not sure how much I should be reading into it.

Also, the references are as interesting as they are unlikely. e.g. I never would have expected to read about a dance routine to a lesser-known Talking Heads song, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Yes, I do have a /flutterrape/ series. It actually started off as random shitposting about ideas and it's gone pretty well overall I think.
I also have no illusions about it, starting Jacky off from a random part may lead to a lot of confusion. Especially if you don't know who is who or who has what sort of personality. I never thought of anyone picking it up from some random part and giving it a shot at first glance.
That song number was fun. I didn't plan it, I don't think you could plan something like that. But it sure led to a lot of good. Especially this.

>>3852 Is 'bootleg' some sort of trope or is it something you came up with? I've sort of figured out who is who from context, and I've got a decent idea of what they're each about. But when it's greentext, and everyone-but-me is shown in the same manner, and you have three not-me's, it gets confusing. I'm afraid to ask, but what exactly is flutterrape? Do people make fanart for you?

Was this some sort of collaborative effort?

I think I'll go back and check out part 1

>>3848 I read over part 1. Hoo boy! So many thoughts...

I get the impression that "Anon" is supposed to be a stand-in for (You) as in the reader, but as I almost never go anon, I associate it instead with >>3848 you, the otherwise nondescript writer. As such, rather than simply imagining this as my situation, I'm instead left wondering how accurate it is to your situation, whether it's a full self insert and the like. e.g. Do you actually drive a corolla (or whatever the car is)? Do you actually live in a small apartment with zero furnishings? Did you actually move from (presumably) the Southwest to somewhere up north? These are the things I'm pondering while reading.

There are a few instances where the voice switches counter to the established greentext format, with ">me" being green and ">you" being purple. This is quite jarring.

I'm curious how well you know your stetson etiquette.

The rapid-fire references are generally interesting. If that's (You), then I'd say I like your taste in movies. However, the presentation of the references makes me think back to another fanfic I read a LONG time ago, a "human in equestria" story where memes were a mile a minute and a major part of the plot. I don't remember what it was called, but at times, that's the sort of tone I'm getting. For better or worse, "Jacky" is a tonal rollercoaster.

98% of the story takes place in a single nondescript location. In that location, most of what I'm reading is about the thought processes of the two characters. super detailed thoughts, followed by measured & couched dialogue interspersed with references. I think it would flow better if the thoughts were simply inferred from the dialogue and actions, rather than themselves being the focus of the story.

I would have split Part 1 into about 4 parts. This thing is massive. approximately 33,000 words. Again, I'm curious, how long did it take you to write this?

In many ways, the protagonist (You) is #relatable. My work, similarly, is a grind. I work, sleep (or try to), struggle to wake up, spend time preparing, and then go back to work, on the perpetual hamster wheel of life. Rather than having a "pet" pony crawling all over me while I'm in bed, I've got my dog constantly snuggling up against me. She doesn't ask for permission; she just pushes her way under my covers and slides next to me, or crawls onto my chest - just like this pony. When I take a shower, my dog plants herself by the door, waiting for me to emerge - just like this pony. a dog that can talk, use tools, has a sense of humor, and has a questionable sex drive - that's kind of how I imagine Jacky.

I'm glad I read it. It was an enjoyable read and I wasn't really bored. But on the other hand, I'm not sure I have the stamina to keep going with the story.

More than what happens next in the story, the thing I'm most curious about is you - the writer.

The /bootleg/ threads focus on facsimiles and rip-offs of pony. That can mean having a conveniently colored yellow smart that does books and reads magic but isn't Twilight Sparkle. It has had wavering levels of activity before I popped up and wrote some obscene amount of greens, mostly in the form of Jacky. I'm sure at least 170-180k words of everything I've written is just Jacky. It also has far more content than just Jacky too. Twilght Sparkie and Rare made me start writing. I've been writing for the longest time but I'd always delete my stuff afterword and wouldn't ever post to any form of forum for people to read. The greentext format also isn't the most natural format to adjust to but I think I've gotten better since I started.
/flutterrape/ is about Fluttershy and her antics trying to get some Anon dick. That ranges from her trying to guess his fetishes every day, to her trying to be his girlfriend for the night because reasons, and more. It also isn't relegated to only FlutterShy being starved for attention and affection. The Operation FlutterRape greens are pretty goofy.
As for Jacky, yeah! I never thought anyone would make any art of her but it's been fantastic and has brought on a new layer of life I never thought I'd see. It's not a collaborative effort in that I'm the only writer for that and all of my other stuff. But it can't be understated that the art really can make a world of difference.

Yeah, trust me, I'm aware Part One needs a re-write. None of it has been drafted or pre-written so things tend to move as they do.
It's an interesting thing to note about how empty the apartment is, and the lack of description it has. Given where and how he is, it's probably easy to outright ignore what you're used to seeing over and over. I'm completely fine with saying that it's all been experimental so far, from playing with perspective to having (You) the main character of the Part notice different things about the same place.
Funny enough I think a lot of people were weirded out about the references at first which... I don't think are really references. At least I don't think it's a reference if I'm talking to someone about something specific, compared to picking up a shotgun and going "groovy".
I think comparing Jacky to a dog is... appropriate. I don't think anyone would have a talking pony and then not treat them like an animal in some ways. Too much when it comes to differences to ignore. Thankfully Anon's mindset in relation to Jacky has changed since then. Possibly for the better.
I don't expect anyone to read through all of it. It's kinda just one of those things that's out there in the ether for some people to read if they really wanted to. Outside of raw formatting errors that could be more reliably fixed by a hardcore rewrite/edit fix, the first part or two is rough around the edges. Thankfully I think I got better.
And what's to know? I just write shit because I feel compelled to. I don't try to fluff up myself as anything more important.

>>3855 It's a cool concept.

Why is Fluttershy trying to get some Anon dick?

That's some pretty cool artwork!

>>3856 Let me give an example of what I mean by references... If you have, let's say "Jacky is leaning against a wall, hat pulled down over her eyes, playing a soulful drawn out 3-note melody on her harmonica that is equal parts haunting, mournful, and menacing. She repeats the melody several times while not acknowledging Anon's presence." - the vast majority of people will have no clue whatsoever what she's trying to emulate. You, I'm guessing, know exactly what she's doing from that description. And then Anon says "Oh, you want to watch Once Upon A Time In The West again?" suddenly the audience, most of whom have no idea this movie even exists, can infer that this is some reference to that movie. And for anyone who has seen the movie, whether they put the pieces together before Anon said anything, it now clicks - this is the harmonica melody from the movie, and in their minds, they can hear the notes, visualize "Harmonica" the character, recall the melody's significance to the story, and imagine exactly what Jacky is doing. This sort of thing happens a ton in Part 1, where if I hadn't seen the movies you mention, I would have no idea what the random quotes allude to, aside from the vague notion that these are probably movie quotes and references.

Even "Ahhh Ah ah Ah ah---- wah Wah wah" on its own means nothing. If you don't have the context that this is some reference to a movie, then it could be literally anything - maybe even a pop song. If you are given context that this is from a movie, and if you yourself haven't seen the movie, and/or you aren't an Ennio Morricone fan, then your best possible guess might be "oh, it's that meme song from Westerns." barring that, it's "some reference to something you don't know."

Fortunately, I had a film studies major as a roommate in college for a year, and hosted weekly movie nights where another film studies major provided many of the movies you mentioned. If not for that, I would have no clue what the references were. I would assume that most people reading your story have not watched most of the movies you cite, so I would assume the references to them go right over their heads.

>compared to picking up a shotgun and going "groovy".

If you haven't seen AoD, then this is just an odd expression of appreciation for finding a weapon. If you have seen AoD, then you know the exact inflection/tone, etc. etc.

I'm kind of curious what happens between parts 1 and 4. I'll get around to it at some point.

There's the saying that people write what they know. This is why I'm curious about you. The things you seem to know, are quite interesting. apparently a cinephile with a love for Westerns at the very least. I'm guessing you're somewhere between 35-45 based on the movies you mention and the music that shows up in the story. This is why I said, I'm curious how much of "you" is written into the Anon in the story.

It's just a meme, the thread has been around since the beginning about her trying to swooce her way into a relationship. Or, failing that, more or less just wanting sex. It's not regulated to just her, but the name stuck.
Honestly, I'm not surprised I don't remember a ton of Part 1. Yeah, that holds water and all that. I suppose at the time I didn't pay any mind toward the aspects people wouldn't get. Listen to two people talk and I'm sure not a lot of things will click, making it so anyone could tell what was what wasn't a priority. I can say that I was so into it that I didn't really pay any mind to who got what. I've almost made that into a theme in of itself, when it comes to limited perspective and topics going over others' heads. Pieces of puzzles that people can't just share all at once, I suppose.
I can say that for the four parts, a lot more is explored. Not just for Anon, the apartment, or Jacky but everything and everyone. To an extent. The mention of tonal shift being drastic is a thing but I suppose I don't know the best way to recommend reading it. It was all written in threads so some days were not so important or interesting, while other days were very important. It's a lot of daily snapshots and views in. Not all days are good days, and not everyone is completely open to one another for clarity's sake. Still not the most used to second person perspective but I think there are some things I can play with when it comes to what they know versus what others know... versus what the reader knows. For example, you may not constantly think about that one bad thing you did. Someone viewing a life through your eyes might not know that either until something causes it to bubble up and then so it's there. Same with any random furnishing or detail you know and have that's been there so long it just doesn't show up on your radar. I could be full of it but I think it's interesting.
And as for me, there's enough separation there. But I like adding details that don't seem significant but sound real. I enjoy Jacky because as some have said, it feels real. I like that real feel. That limited mindset of an Anon that sees no color in his life and doesn't care about what few things he has. And even when he gets someone, he doesn't know what to pay attention to. Or what expression translates to what. Or how some conversations sound awkward or topics feel uncomfortable but they can't be left alone. But that depends on the personalities of the speakers too.
I'm nowhere near those ages, though I'm certainly into things far older than I am. I have been writing for around a decade, but not in any meaningful capacity. I'm not Anon but I know him pretty well. Just like I know Jacky really well. And the others too.
Also, a gif someone made for another bootleg green. That one is a little special in that there are two versions and they've already diverged.
