Oh, I just made this thread because I just stepped in from work. I haven't been away from Ponychan. This place is my lifeblood. Although I can't internet during my shift at work like some people. I always feel like I'm left behind when I get home.

My internet when I'm away from home is absolute garbage, so i don't even try using the site by phone anymore. Back in the sites hayday it would be easy to miss a lot, but i think it moves at just the right pace now that it's easy to catch up by the end of work.

That just feels like looking at a recording of conversations that I've missed and can never be a part of. There's some threads with continuity to them but the more non-topical mingling threads are said and done by the time I get home and I just feel like a stranger around here most of the time, albeit a well received one. Not trying to be a downer or anything. It is what it is. Job pays well but the tradeoff is that the hours are very isolating.

I totally understand that sentiment. I used to worry about that all the time with friends talking on Discord. Even more so when i was working an overnight shift and basically never talked to my friends during that. It's more about coming to terms with the fact you won't be there for everything. Enjoy the moments you can be there and let that be what you look forward to. That's what i do anyways.

Absolutely and you don't need to beg for something like emotional support. I remember we used to talk a lot on discord and watch MLP just to relax. That seemed to help you quite a bit. Or at least, up until you deleted your discord account and we lost contact for a bit, but my offer still stands if you ever need someone to talk to! Shift-wise it's just kind of been reality for me for going on 15 years now. It didn't always feel this way. That was kind of the transitional period into the social media age. I'd always ever just socialized with people 1 on 1 in private conversations. That was the way of the world back then. You set aside time to socialize with people. It was a habit that people were used to. And now everybody just publicly broadcasts everything worth talking about (And nobody actually reads it) and that fulfills most people's need for genuine conversation. It's chilling the way people I used to stay up all night chatting back and forth with now act like it's some kind of bother to reply to a simple "hey, how's it going?" private message. And it just kind of points to an inescapable conclusion that for the most part very few of those people genuinely cared to have all those decades of conversations to begin with.
