If the trend of the last 30 years continues, more people will have the opportunity to carry a firearm, and states with a limited magazine capacity will start to fall.
This shit gets proposed every single year for decades, back to the 80s, and always will, and people act like its new.
Yeah, biden is pearl clutching his bill from the 1990s, but there are enough pro-gun dems that they wouldnt vote for something en masse that is so over reaching i dont think. Might be wrong, but i doubt it, esp now. The past decade has been big for firearms, like huge, like... the argument has been had non-stop, people exposure has been more accessible, ownership
regardless of political affiliation has skyrocketed, and i think, regardless of the NRA fear mongering, the "culture war" is tilted heavily in favor of firearms rights.
The actual realistic debate isnt over whether or not people should be able to own and carry firearms, but more about magazine capacity and where should be off limits to carry.
Its like abortion, its cemented, its the law of the land, but people still want to tweak it and they have the right to the debate. But, also like abortion, the news and the politicians know it strikes a huge nerve and gets hyperbole'd to death.
Obv there is an eb to this, in that,
your local government might be doing something more drastic, but i think nationally not much will happen, and if it does, esp right now out of the gate, well, it would spark off a powder keg on both the left, and the right, and then it wouldnt matter regardless.
The only way i can see something really getting through, would be by executive order, which, isnt off the table. Of course, this is all just speculation, idk what tf is going on behind closed doors. There would be wide spread non compliance though.
A piece of me kind of wants it to happen to force the hand of SCOTUS once its on the federal level, because they have no interest in helping people in individual states, and there would be a HUGE outcry. But at the same time, i dont want it to happen haha.
