I learned that doing a good job, but never a great job, is probably the best course of action.
If you go above and beyond, you end up getting everyone to expect that from you 24/7 and they are extra mad at you if you slip up even once. So you end up busting your ass all the time, while watching less competent people advance.

It's why I am still there, our lab was in a tough spot, lots of people leaving and I was the last knowledgeable person willing to stick it out.

They revamped the lab to help retain people (better pay / advancement) and they're more actively delegating my old work to the newer/relatively experienced folk so I can take care of the roles for the new lab me and my immediate supervisor are starting.

It's a dry lab, dealing with cancer clinical trials at our hospital/cancer research center.

Basically our hospital has a fuck ton of patients getting their cancers treated, and almost all of them at some point go on a clinical trial, so we collect and send out tumor samples from our center to sites around the world for advancing clinical trials to treat / cure different types of cancer. We serve to centralize that service among all the investigators and physicians in our hospital

However, if you go to the northern states it's flipped, due to the freezing temperatures fucking up pipes of water.

That makes sense. FL winters are as cozy as NE summers where there isnt much to go wrong because living is easy.
I imagine your cooling needs are as problematic or moreso than our heating needs.

A well built building should not have pipes freezing, fortunately for your industry, there are a lot of unwell built buildings haha.

Ocean front houses are required to be on stilts above historic storm surge too, so working on them is easy af.

Fair enough. Just seems weird to put the Christian aspect front and center if you're not going to be acting in a way that is influenced by it.
Though i could see it being just advertising down there, up here indint think a religious association would draw in customers, would probably be more of a turn off tbh.
