I haven't been depressed in a long time. When I feel the signs of depression coming on, I fight it. I find extra things to do to make myself feel better, give myself a break from stress factors, talk things out with people I trust, etc.
Some things that often help are music, vidya, films, walking outside, taking rides with people when its possible or Ubering somewhere if its not, lots of coffee, therapy, medication, getting high every once in a while, a healthy fap schedule (once every day or two is what works well for me)
I've learned I can push back against depressive feelings with a ton of patience and willpower. Not wanting to be like how I used to be is a very strong motivator for keeping myself well.
