I live in America and my state isn't on lockdown, though all non-essential businesses are shut down, and the National Guard has been called in.

However, Charlie Baker emphasized in his address today that nobody is being forced to stay inside, we are just strongly encouraged to do so, and we can't have gatherings of over 25 people.

That might not be just corporate jargon for cost cutting, governments are currently out bidding each other in a scramble to stockpile and all the mfg is in china until the US gets rolling and they just liftet bans on US companies like 3m and honeywell from selling n95 masks to healthcare institutions. For sure. There's something comforting about being able to make ammo with caveman-levels of technology.
About 7 or 8 years ago I went on a kick of ammo experimentation. Improvising powder, wads and shot. That culminated with packing a .50 bmg bullet and paper patch into my M500. Didn't patch it well enough though, it hit the log I was shooting at while tumbling and bounced back and hit me in the thigh.

I mostly knocked those shenanigans off after that.

It might be possible if you fitted some kind if driving band to the bullet rather a sabot but even that would likely not have particularly stellar results if only for the great difference in caliber.

Yeah, that doesn't happen very often. I don't care to talk on camera at all. I prefer to be the one doing the recording, not the one being recorded.

That's a nice looking doggo. That terrain reminds me of Kato, an abandoned mining village near here. Though the soil there is more gray/brown than tan. Is a popular 4x4ing destination.

I think .50bmg in a shotshell is better at sounding totally rad af, than actually working.

Shes a good dog. She we got fat over winter though haha. She was going like 60% her normal speed there, because we were out a while before that.

I hear you on that, i dont like cameras. I mean, i love cameras, ive been a photographer and videographer my whole life, but i hate them in anyone elses hands but mine haha.

I forgot why i took that vid tbh.

Its beach sand, but its about 7mi inland. Its cool, ive been watching it for years. The whole management area is that way, but thats the last bare patch left. Grass takes hold, and dies, and comes back until the soil is good enough to support a pine seedling, then the pine seedling drops needles and conditions the soil further, mostly by holding moisture so more grass can grow and die and more seedlings and then a tree, and well, you get the idea.

I assume thats more or less how the area was forested. They were going to flood the land for a reservoir but never did. Still a few abandoned towns and paved roads in there.

Governor wants to sell the whole management area off and make it an industrial zone. Kinda sucks, because i hunt there too.

Yeah, basically.

Reminds me of Fort Benning down in Georgia, Is all just sand and pine trees... And I just realized that kids born when I was there for basic will be old enough to vote soon. That's kinda terrifying.

Well the volunteer thing went out the window. Washington state is on full lockdown and all non-essential buildings are closed. I got an email saying that the volunteers aren't being let in until the two week period is up.

I'm essential, so even though Ontario has gone down for two weeks (it hasn't; Doug Ford just wants to seem important so he's made a list of essential businesses and almost everything is on it), I still need to work.

Handles for the buckshot mold arrived. Unfortunately is cold and raining today so I won't be able to start casting just yet. But it will like as not be 80 degrees and sunny tomorrow so all is good. Of course equal odds are that it will snow again.

The smaller molds do and they're peened in place. The big ones you have to buy separate but if you end up buying a whole bunch of molds you can save money by just swapping the one handle around as needed.

Molds aren't cheap, they are precision machined after all. Especially if you buy a bunch of them and once you buy one of them there's pretty good chance you'll end up buying more. So anything that can bring the costs down is a good thing.
They are cheaper than they used to be though.

IS funny cuz both of my bows are from the 70's.
and also because bows are ancient in general.
There's a recurve bow in that pic too, It's invisible but I promise it's there.

My mom has a pretty nice recurve.

I don't really hunt so much anymore. Though I do still shoot varmints semi-regularly. I think the last time I went bow hunting was 15 or 16 years ago.
See on any normal day around here you walk right up to a deer and slap it in the face. But once hunting season comes around they all put on ninja robes and vanish and I have better things to do than sit around waiting for critters that aren't going to appear.

If they are like that in the summer than during hunting season just keep your rifle handy and go about your day.

Deer dont like change and if your going in all sneaky breaky like, they think its weird and leave.
Edit:
Unless you're damn good at it.

What i do is get to my spot and just fall asleep for a while. Then when i wake up they are everywhere haha.

He's the video I probably said I would upload six months ago but didn't:
Deers4

A herd of about 10 or so came storming in about 5 minutes after I tossed some apples out for them.
