BREAKING; Ukrainian plane with 180 innocent civilians on board crashes in Iran with no survivors, after plane suddenly explodes into giant fireball in midair while flying above Iran, despite seemingly having had no flaws or errors reported on said plane nor any bad conditions while flying

That will certainly leave room for debates.

Austrian news says 173 people were on board. Plane in question was a Boeing 737. Supposedly the Iranian air agency claimed the crash was caused by a "technical defect".

Ah yes, that classic 'technical defect' that causes perfectly fine and flying good planes to blow up into a giant fireball and fall to the ground instantly

With the crash happening so close to the Iranian missile strike and them claiming so quickly it was a technical defect it's very likely.

You can 'watch' the crash here I think.

This was an 'accident' due to Irans defence system, seemingly flagging the plane as a threat

It was one of many planes starting from the airport at that time... why would the air defense system get triggered by this one?

This is the least outlandish explanation I've heard on the matter so far.
Iran probably doesn't have the most advanced air defence in the world, and its probably being manned by hyped up young people with itchy trigger fingers, so it being a mistake is reasonable to consider.

Its still a plane full of innocent people though, and if the rolls were reversed the world would have come to a sceeching hault. Not saying it shouldn't, more saying it still should. But, it probably wont.

I mean, people are already accused of racism, even in this thread, for simply agnolaging that the event happened, thats a reason i dont think much will go down.
It very clearly was accidental, i mean, Iran wouldnt lie about it, bulldoze the evidence, and refuse to give up the black box if it was part of their plan, and pretty much all of the passengers were Iranian ether fully or with duel citizenship, so really they killed their own citizens.
I believe these will be the reasons that the Canadians use to avoid conflict of the affair.

I do think you are right about Iran going gang busters on uranium enrichment, though, i dont think they will be doing any more than they already are, but simply make public what they've been doing all along.
So the question is, how comfortable will the world be knowing that a military that is so confused and ready to launch weapons, that they shoot down their own citizens in civilian aircraft, who have already threatened holy wars and to nuke a list of countries, having the capacity to do so?

Also, you are probably right about fortnight too.

The problem with nuking North Korea is that Seoul is very close to the border and the Norks could hit Seoul hard in retaliation before being vaporized. I'm not sure if there's anything similar preventing us from nuking all of Iran's military bases and nuclear facilities.

Thing with Iran's Uranium enrichment is that they have a bunch of centrifuges but they are tiny and prone to breaking down. They allegedly have a new design that they're rolling out but who's to say if that's even true.
Personally, having seen what they call a "next gen stealth fighter jet" I am dubious.

So, after days of saying it was an issue with the plane, and damning the "western propaganda" that said it was shot down... They finally admit it.

https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/iran-unintentionally-shot-ukrainian-jetliner-68209842

So basicly as "revenge" for the loss of their general, they killed ~200 of their own citizens, both by downing this plane and the 80 deaths at the funeral for this guy, GJ.
Thats on top of the over 1000 of their own citizens they killed over the past few weeks for protesting the incompetence of their leaders.

10/10.

I feel really bad for the Iranian people, wish they could get back to before it was a theocracy.

On NPR this morning there was a segment where they were talking about how this is actually the US's fault, because Iran wouldnt have killed all those innocent people if the US didnt strike their General.

I agree that killing that guy so abruptly was a bad move, and i hate how Trump handled the situation but the whole "Look at what you made me do!" excuse doesn't work for domestic abusers, and its no excuse to shoot down commercial passenger aircraft ether.

I mean, if thats the case, then the killing of the general was justified by the time honored playground rule of "they hit me first!".

The people actively support their government in those actions and want to keep religious law as the way of the land. Village justice is also not uncommon. Why wait for the police to kill someone when the public will just do it on the spot?

The people are bad, and you sound more like a bleeding heart ignoring reality more so than anything else.

>They have my respect.

Laughable.

I didn't say that at all. Just that the numbers support that the people are overall trash. When compared to the entire population it's nothing note worthy. I've heard about some of the protests from various countries around the middle east. Most of the time it isn't for freedom, rather 'freedom' while under oppressive religious laws official and unofficial.

A little off topic but did you hear about those muslim women that were protesting against women's rights because they said they didn't want to pressures and responsibilities of being individual? Those places are fucked and backwards.

If anything I agree in that other countries should mind their own business and leave them to keep fucking their own up on their own terms.

I cant help but feel like you're cherry picking examples from an entire region to dismiss the population of a spacific country.
Iran was a very liberal country before the revolution in the 70s, and people haven't forgotten that.
Everyone I've met from Iran have been great people, who integrate fantastically in the US while retaining duel citizenship.
Yeah, there is definitely is a sect of the population that supports the current regime, of course there is or it wouldnt exist, but you could say that about anywhere.
Do you think hong kong protesters are also nothing, because some people in hong kong support china?
Do you think the people of any country that has a political split are all bad? The US would be a good example because its 50/50 on a lot of issues, so doesn't that make everyone bad because of the 50% you may not agree with?

This has been a long standing and growing movement against the government of iran, and tbh, that strike against the general did more to disrupt it than anything, which is why i said it seemed more like a favor than an attack, because it gave people a reason to rally around their government against the US and slowed the momentum the anti Iatola protesters were gaining.

Except the majority of Hong Kong is protesting and is enraged where as I am pretty sure it is the majority of those in Iran that are in support of the current religious laws in place.

I would say that it depends on what that 50/50 split is. Depending on what, it wouldn't matter to me if it were more or less. At a certain point a problem is a problem and damn be to the whole population. We're not talking about a split difference in opinions on flavor of ice cream after all. All is relative and contextual.

You can call it skeptical, ignorant, cold and heartless. I call it being practical.

A little here, a little there in life. People I've talked to, people I've met, numbers I've seen, videos I've watched.

I'm not about to go out of my way to recall every detail and look for every piece of info I've read in my life just for a throw away bit about a country that I don't really like, especially when it's so obvious and in plain sight. You really have to have your head buried far deep in the sand in order to think otherwise.

Im not even saying you're wrong, im just saying if you're right, you would have a more solid reasoning than, "oh you know, a little of this and that... Its so obvious i dont even need to explain, you just refuse to see what i wont even explain, because of the obviousness of it all".

See, now thats the part i was saying i had issue with, remeber?
Because, iirc, we are talking specifically about Iran and the current anti government protests taking place there, not some protests in various countries.

Remeber? I said
>I cant help but feel like you're cherry picking examples from an entire region to dismiss the population of a spacific country.

Then you said
>the majority of those in Iran that are in support of the current religious laws in place.

Then I said
>What do you base that on though?
And briefly gave reasoning behind my thoughts to the contrary.

Then you answered
>A little here, a little there in life. People I've talked to, people I've met, numbers I've seen, videos I've watched.

>if you're right, you would have a more solid reasoning than, "oh you know, a little of this and that...
