The first time I moved abroad, to England, it just happened to be one or two days before Guy Fawkes. I had no idea about the holiday at the time, but two people from here (Mithent and Emerald) were kind enough to not only pick me up, but to let me stay with them for a couple days, and then drive me through most of the country afterwards to get me where I needed to go. That was really kind of them, and I still find myself wishing that I could somehow pay them back for it and other nice things they did for me.
That's about the entire extent of my history with the holiday. Not terribly relevant or interesting, but there you go.
