This isn't going to happen. Wait 20-30 years and America will be an absolute joke, the country's already showing sings of going under. When that happens if China successfully transitions away from a purely export economy or starts exporting to growing markets like India, Southeast Asia, or Africa they will become the worlds new super power.

China is already investing heavily in Africa and seems to be slowly but surely colonising certain parts of Africa without anyone taking any interest. Most westerners have absolutely no idea about this.

Doesn't China also have over a billion more people living in it than the US does?

That's always blown my mind. The idea of a country with a billion people.

I mean that's a lot of people.

I mean I think there should be less than a billion people on the entire planet, nevermind that being the population of one country

Crazy

Yeah, they are pretty ridiculous. Though, I'm not really one for the whole overpopulation jazz.
Maybe it's because I've driven across the country, but, near as I can tell there's still plenty of land, and, obviously there's plenty of food if we are using some of it to fuel our cars. seems to me we have everything we need to support a large population. Though, support end maintain high quality living are two very different things there.

Me too. Is also ridiculously misleading. Sure, China may have 6,246 artillery pieces but the majority of that is going to be WW2 and slavshit surplus only suitable for shelling peasant villages. Likewise they might have 714 ships but hardly any of them are worthy of being called "warships."

Aircraft carriers are extremely important. The rest of the navy is basicly just there to support them.

Right, because an aircraft carrier has no defences for those... Like idk, aircraft?

You almost have a point with the drone except defences for drones were developed in tandom with drones themselves and any drone that could deliver a payload big enough to damage a carrier is going to be picked up by normal air defense systems.

Even if just 10% of the Chinese population was conscripted that would still be 140 million people and 5% would be 70 million.

The Chinese military is also fairly advanced and even if they weren't 70 million people using nothing but sticks and rocks is still a force not to be reckoned with.

this would depend on who is invading who

like if the chinese invaded the homeland US they'd be royally fucking screwed

if the US invaded china it would be a bit different

then again as snowbell pointed out all the US has to do is hit the three gorges dam and they're pretty much done for

china maybe growing but its still heavily flawed

not only that the US is still a lot more advanced and has more allies

not only that we already have japan who cannot stand the chinese and south korea as well

Aircraft carriers are not just floating airstrips, they are floating command posts. Yes, they can deploy aircraft, but their primary role in warfare is to be a command station which oversees the battle. They act as a radio relay to the mainland as well.

Just because it's called an "aircraft carrier" doesn't mean it's only purpose is to carry aircraft.

>aircraft carries are redundant
Lmao, no, carriers can sit 14 miles off the coast and launch planes. They can park a carrier off a coast in about a week or even less depending on where they need it. There is always an aircraft carrier underway. 2017 was the only year were for one month they didn't have a carrier underway.

Carriers are floating airbases. They launch aircraft every minute when on combat missions.

>>216688
That is why Carriers operate in Strike Groups. They are also outfitted with RAMs and CIWIS.
