>Fallout 4 has a larger and more detailed map
>Fallout 4 has better DLC
>Fallout 4 has more side quests and activities
>Fallout 4 allows you to build and manage bases
>Fallout 4 has better graphics

The only downside is the shit story, other than that Fallot 4 is superior in every other way.

LMAO WHAT
there is a night and day difference between the graphics in 3 and 4
you'd have to mod the shit out of 3 to get it to look half as good as 4 does even on consoles

Eh. Having tried to play Fo3 recently, it's barely functional and seems to be held up together with toothpaste.
Even Morrowind, old as it is, is playable. Fo3 I just can't do for more than a few minutes without headaches.

Fo4 may be an empty sandbox at best, but, at least I can play it some of the time.

As shit as the story was, I honestly do not think it's worse than Fo3

Only thing 3 has going for it is the atmosphere. Which, honestly is more to do with the location than anything else.

...least we all seem to agree 3 has a good atmosphere.

Point Lookout is easily my favourite Fallout DLC, I mean, now that's some good atmosphere.

The Pitt is pretty fun too...

The less said about the aliens DLC the better though

>>215559
Quantity != quality, base building came from 3's modding community, and better graphics is never an argument.

The Silver Shroud and the questline with the flying ship were fantastic.

If the game had more stuff like that, I'd have absolutely loved it.

That one too.

There were definitely some standout quest lines in it. Just a shame that they were so boring on average.

The cabbot questline was rather dull in my opinion.
Really did enjoy robo-boat, though. Made me want to join robo-faction. But, of course, signing on with a bunch of badass robots still serving the US military after hundreds of years isn't an option. You're stuck with either SJWs, two variants of nazis, or LARPers.

The BoS, in the 'gas the unpure' sense, and the Institute, in the "nazi scientist conducting horrific experiments" sense.

Story wise it's the same mediocre shit.
Graphics wise Fallout 4 is better.
Gameplay wise it's like comparing Call of Duty to Half-life, it looks like it's the same but the two games are fundamentally different.
As for legacy, both of them are just an utter heresy. You need to shot your way to the end in 3. No option for speech, repair, science, steal, sneak... Just fucking gunz blazing. In 4 all the dialogues are YES, LATER BUT YES, LORE, TYPE OF REWARD. No story tree, no decision making.
If anything at least Far harbour was a decent expansion pack where you actually had rpg elements. All the fallout 3 DLCs were just go-there-and-shoot-up-everything.

Not quite accurate. In four, dialogue choices are "Yes", "Sarcastic yes", "Angry yes", "No, but actually yes".

< Fallout 3
>First 3D world for the Fallout universe
>Full proper open world to explore instead of select locations
>Interesting story-line involving your father and water purification, hearkening back to the first Fallout quest
>Much more serious a tone then Fallout games from the past
>Companions felt lacking story and were just archetypes with slots to fill, but can have 2 of them at once
>Lack of voices and proper side content besides 2-3 interesting one-offs
>Overall 7/10
>improved slightly with the DLC that came later

< Fallout 4

>Different take on the Fallout universe as your character comes from before the war
>Still ends up in the same timeline as all the other Fallout protagonists
>Enforces base-building as a requirement instead of as a mechanic
>Voices felt more diverse, but still fell short as what they had to say didn't matter much in the big picture
>Again, serious tone for the whole game (not counting Silver Shroud)
>Companions felt more fleshed out, but also never shut-up leading to the same lines over and over again.
>Can only have one at a time, including dogmeat
>Forced into one of three possible major faction groups within the game with the Railroad, Brotherhood, or Institute
>Story-line tries to pull the whole "twist you didn't see coming" too much, ends up ruining any kind of connection made
>Overall 6/10
>DLC felt weak as half were for base-building without story content

< Fallout: New Vegas

>HATED right out the gate, being called a cash grab by the developers
>Not a Vault boy, instead a random courier who was in the wrong place at the wrong time
>Proceeds to find those who attempted to kill him, just because he has nothing else to do
>Voices were more diverse and had real character to them, they were people not actors
>More humor overall as you adventure through the wastelands
>Companions felt better, but also allowed for more odd choices (Robo-Dog, Grandma Super Mutant)
>Can have 2 companions at once again
>2 major factions to care about, NCR and Caesar's Legion, could choose to not care about either of them and do your own thing
>Story about revenge that then turns into war which turns into possibly ruling all of the Mojave
>Overall 9/10
>DLC turns out to be some of the best ever made for the series, each bigger then the last.

CONCLUSION - Fallout New Vegas best Fallout, others fall short and don't matter.

Ah, the Pitt. You know, people love talking about Moral choices in games and Fallout3 sure got a lot of shit for it;

So I'm glad the Pitt is the very definition of Morally gray.

Oh, and Pittsborough in it looks fucking gorgeous, and the troggs were a neat little concept.

The idea of an entire city being run by what is essentially a giant raider gang is a cool concept too

I loved the Pitt due to being a DLC that basically said "we're taking everything you have and you start with nothing. Welcome to the Pitt scab, now get to work"

Plus the moral choices, which we're easily identified as good/bad but more favor one faction over the other.

Plus it had some of my favorite unique weapons in Fallout 3, mainly the Auto Axe
