Trump pulls soldiers out of Syria, Syrian war finally over. Mint horse (ID: a3af1f)Country code: gb, country type: geoip, valid:   213020[View All]

Why has no one made this thread yet? Trump just ordered that all US soldiers be removed from Syria. Basher al-Assad officially wins the Syrian war.

You can't Mossad the Assad. Long live the Syrian people, death to the (((western infidels))) Alawite master race! The Alawites are the only true Muslims, death to the fake Sunnis.

Yes it probably has something to do with their genes. This doesn't mean genes are the only factor, but they are an important one.

One could argue that, depending on the the field, crystallized intelligence is more important for (non-research) STEM than fluid intelligence.

>>213242
Okay. Provide some evidence that:
1) There is a direct causal link between certain genes and certain crimes
2) These genes account for a statistically significant amount of the causally linked crimes
3) These genes account for such a large percentage of occurrences of the corresponding crimes that it can reliably be said committing the crime proves one has the gene within a reasonable confidence interval

If you can't do all that, justify why compulsory sterilization is either a pragmatic or a morally correct response to serious crimes.

Furthermore, justify why a man who ordered the killing of millions shouldn't have been sterilized under his own moral framework. I can't think of many crimes more serious than those against humanity.

Pic related shows the link between genes and crime.

People obviously pass on their genes and I don't think it's too far fetched to suggest that maybe certain genes select for criminality. For example low intelligence can lead to poor decision making, high time preference can lead to lack of fore sight, certain natural chemicals or hormones could lead to an increase in violence. It's a very simple concept.

Starshine!Laura/wmXM (ID: 44abf5)Country code: ponychan.png, country type: customflag, valid: 1  213256

Also, the goalposts I've implicitly established grant you a lot of basic moral assumptions that I (and probably many others) don't agree with, so I'm also going to have to ask you to justify the position of forced sterilization, either for genetic reasons or in general, as a whole. Be very careful answering this one, especially if you don't actually have a cursory knowledge of how genes and heredity work.

I am. But the US is big. Very big compared to Europe.

So much so that someone living in California vs someone living in New York are basically twice as far away from each other than someone living in France vs someone living in Poland.

I don't think many Europeans are aware of the distances involved in traveling around the US.

I think this is also why the US mostly uses the imperial system for measuring distance. For example, 700 miles in the US is over 1100 kilometers.

From CA to NY is about 2,913 miles, or roughly 4688 km. The numbers start getting ridiculous when you use the metric system in the US.

I think they're implying that race has nothing to do with how people behave.

Studies on this are useless because of culture. Culture influences behavior more than anything else and races tend to develop their own cultures. So it's not the genetics that predispose people of a race to act a certain way, it's the culture they are raised in.

"No", but considering the very lengthy discussion we had on this topic, involving many, many sources and studies conducted by people who actually study genetic and biological anthropology, and the fact that our construct of race is built around phenotype, not genotype, you should know better than to claim "race is correlated with crime" is an equivalent statement with "genes are correlated with crime". You should also know better than to conjecture, given what the actual data shows on the graduated genetic variation of humans on a global scale, that even if the latter statement were true, these genes would reliably correspond with race. Most importantly, you should know better than to conclude causation from correlation.

Behavior is basically a mixture of need and problem solving. The brain basically uses a set of catalogs for data reference in order to make decisions.

The first is the logical catalog. This is what the brain knows as true and false. The other one is the bias catalog. It holds what the brain considers favorable and unfavorable. Every single action a person does in basically using these catalogs as reference data to make a decision and then adds the result of their action to the catalog to build a more comprehensive data set.

Basically all brains function this way. While genetics may play a role in capacity of the brain's functionality, behavior itself is learned through constant trial and error, and a world view is built based on this experience. So depending on the outcomes of these actions, people can build completely different sets of catalogs. Genetics does not play a role in this functionality, because that would basically be saying that genetics can warp a person's perception of their reality, which would be absolutely pointless and would in fact be detrimental to the survival of the species.

There is absolutely zero proof or even evidence to suggest that behavior is genetic because it doesn't make sense from even a biological standpoint.

No. Crime is a complicated phenomenon that probably cannot be attributed to a single factor. If there were such a factor, far more likely candidates would be poverty and certain mental illnesses (which can be heritable, ironically giving your original point a modicum of weight, except that even in that circumstance, many are treatable and none of which account for a significant enough portion of any serious crimes to justify sterilization is a pragmatic solution to them). Reducing poverty in particular, and facilitating research for better mental health care, would be far more effective and sustainable solutions to crime than simply punishing criminals with sterilization because they "probably" have some imaginary gene that made them commit that crime.
