Bruh, we were a big deal at one time.
One of the biggest pony forums, essentially.

Back in the day, we were pretty important, in the pony scheme.

There was even a time after pony threads were banned on /co/ and /b/, but before /mlp/ was created, where we were the de facto main pony forum on the internet.

That may be so but it still seems like it was hardly mentioned anywhere outside of chans and some random pony sites despite that.

I'm pretty sure there were some forums, it just that ponychan only seemed relevant among chans and some parts of the pony fandom and even that didn't last too long.

Noonim (ID: c952b2)  112959

>>112955
ED [which I still read as Equestria Daily, incidentally] is mostly made from 4cahnners, from what I understand.

Anonymous (ID: 6dcc8a)  112960

>>112959
Probably. But it's kind of surprising they even bothered to mention it even if they remembered it exists.

Noonim (ID: c952b2)  112961

>>112960
IT's a list of chan boards. If they're going to mention anyone, I expect us to be on the list. We were a big deal. Hell, I'd argue we're still a fair bit larger than most.

Anonymous (ID: 6dcc8a)  112962

I think that was put together when ponychan was going into decline.

So?
If you're giving me a list of countries, I expect you to still list Venezuela, even if it's in decline.

Anonymous (ID: 6dcc8a)  112964

>>112963
That's kind of a different thing considering countries are far more important than chans. And such a list would probably be done by more professional people without a bias.

Noonim (ID: c952b2)  112965

>>112964
I think with lists it's irrelevant the level of importance of the items being listed. I still expect a list of, say, no.2 pencil providers to list the major providers of history, same as I'd expect a major banking list to contain major bankers.
As for a bias, I fail to see the relevance in this conversation.
Do you think there's some kind of bias, listing, say, Bic, on a list of pen makers?

There were forums, but none of them had any real following. And Ponychan was relevant for a decent amount of time. But it was highly relevant before /mlp/ was created, since we had all the refugees from 4chan coming here. That's when we got a bunch of people in. In fact, the site's activity was probably at its peak for a couple years after that time. Gave the site a lot of exposure from people looking for a place to be.

Anonymous (ID: 6dcc8a)  112968

>>112965
Idk man I've seen quite a few lists that lack some of whatever it's supposed to be a list about. Plus I even know of a few chans that it didn't list so. Um. Maybe?

Noonim (ID: c952b2)  112969

>>112968
The difference here is we're one of the major chans out there, mate.
We aren't some obscure piece of content.
People know about it.

I know lists usually forget a few of the minor, tiny groups.
But Ponychan is not a minor piece. Ponychan was a historically significant site, when it comes to chans, and had at one point been the pony board.

Look, I'd hate to come across as rude, but this seems patently obvious.
You're being surprised that Hi-Point is listed as a firearms manufacture, because they aren't as popular as Glock.

I'd hate to come across as rude but I don't know why we're still arguing the semantics of this. Clearly there is merit to both of our perspectives.

I mean, I guess you feel that way. I keep trying to give you simple explanations and examples to show you why this is a very simple thing. Frankly, I feel like I'm talking to the toddler. Especially when you link a post that has absolutely nothing to do with the prior post made, as though you've proved a point.

It's painful, is what it is.
I feel like I'm dealing with someone who doesn't actually care, is in another room drinking beer with his friends, posting whenever he notices something pinged up, without actually reading a thing.

>I keep trying to give you simple explanations and examples to show you why this is a very simple thing. Frankly, I feel like I'm talking to the toddler.

The feeling is mutual tbh. Seems kind of ridiculous that you can't see why I would be slightly surprised that when the site was in decline a list contained it when it appears to be missing many, one probably even more relevant at the time when the list was put together. Also most people probably forgot it even existed and it wasn't talked about much at that point.

>Especially when you link a post that has absolutely nothing to do with the prior post made, as though you've proved a point.

It's explaining to you yet again what you fail to understand, why I was surprised. It's explaining what I had to explain yet again above this.

Noonim (ID: c952b2)  112973

>>112972
Like I said; >>112969 "historically significant".
Now you're being surprised the Chauchat was listed on a list of machine guns.
Turns out, despite not being used after the war, it was still a historical firearm.

I guess we're really just at the point where it's one of those link-to-prior post conversations.

Anonymous (ID: 6dcc8a)  112974

>>112973
Again when it comes to things like chans, I don't think "historical significance" matters as much, especially since these "articles" are all written by literally whos with no credibility. Most of which probably forgot ponychan existed, and thus wouldn't include it because they wouldn't remember. This isn't rocket science.

Noonim (ID: c952b2)  112975

>>112974
M'kay, buddy.
People who don't care about guns think the chauchat doesn't matter much.

Understand?

Anonymous (ID: 6dcc8a)  112976

I actually have no idea what you're even talking about because I'm not a gun fanatic.

Bingo.
You've proven my point.

The chauchat was a French WWI machine gun.
Someone who cares enough about machine guns to make a list of them would likely know this, and list it, as it was an important, if not widespread, machine gun in history.

In the same capacity, someone who cares enough about chans to make a list? Probably going to list Ponychan, pretty much the sole place to post pony stuff at one point of time, and otherwise generally one of the more populated imageboards out there, even today.

Anonymous (ID: 6dcc8a)  112979

>>112978
>You've proven my point.
I mean not really.

Just because I don't know much about some random completely unrelated thing you were blathering on about doesn't mean I'm wrong about this thing I do know about which is actually relevant to what was being talked about.

Noonim (ID: c952b2)  112980

>>112979
Okay, now I'm convinced you're not serious at all. This is just bait.
Nobody can be that daft.

Anonymous (ID: 6dcc8a)  112982

>>112980
Honestly I've been wondering the same about you. I'm not talking about guns here I'm talking about a chan. That literally does not prove anything and the fact that you keep making these random accusations just because you're frustrated that I have a different perspective from you REALLY doesn't help you look any better. I don't give a shit about guns right now, look at what I actually said on the matter and use your brain for something other than "principles" for once.

No shit mate.
I know you're not talking about guns. It's called an analogy. It's about demonstrating the logical progression.

Seriously, if you're frustrated, maybe actually spend the time to read my posts. I've explained it several times, you clearly do not spend the time to read what I have said.
This one >>112978 especially breaks it down clearly.

You spend your free time to make a list on something, you're going to care about relevant items.
If I make a list about pens, I'm going to know about pens.
If I make a list about ponies, I'm going to know about ponies.
It's super simple. I've explained it several times here. Unless you're baiting, or having some kind of mental issues, it should be writ quite simply.

Guns is irrelevant. The point was the logical progression. Are you the autistic kid in class who always asked the teacher "Why are you giving away six apples?"?

Noonim (ID: c952b2)  112984

Odd question, but do you play on Ponytown by chance?
I ran into a guy a while back who sounds just like you.
Had issues understanding why someone asked "are you a girl" when he had replied "who" to a gender-specific question, when there was only a single girl around who it could apply to.
Was rather funny at first, but the guy literally spent about two and a half hours, going back and forth, because he genuinely could not understand it.
I think he had issues with basic logic.

Anonymous (ID: 6dcc8a)  112985

>>112983
Ya no shit it's an analogy. The problem is you're acting like it proves your point just because I didn't fully understand the context of your analogy (which again is completely unrelated to the original topic mind you).

>Seriously, if you're frustrated

Hey man you struck first. No doubt about that with your insults and stuff all because YOU'RE frustrated too.

>I've explained it several times, you clearly do not spend the time to read what I have said.

I've literally been saying the same to you. All you have to do is read my posts if you have a normal brain. All I'm doing is explaining why it was slightly surprisingly from my perspective (which is still perfectly reasonable), I'm not like denying that they listed it entirely or even that it's particularly unlikely that they would list it.

>It's super simple. I've explained it several times here. Unless you're baiting, or having some kind of mental issues, it should be writ quite simply.

Exactly, it's really simple you should be able to get where I'm coming from by reading my posts but evidently not.

>Are you the autistic kid in class who always asked the teacher "Why are you giving away six apples?"?

I mean are you? You've kind of been wondering why I thought the way I did, I gave you answers and you're still on about it. Also even more insults from you.

>>112984
>I ran into a guy a while back who sounds just like you.

Maybe if you run into this sort of thing often it says something about you.

>Had issues understanding why someone asked "are you a girl" when he had replied "who" to a gender-specific question, when there was only a single girl around who it could apply to.

>Was rather funny at first, but the guy literally spent about two and a half hours, going back and forth, because he genuinely could not understand it.

Okay but then why are you having issues understanding my perspective even as I make it glaringly clear?

>I think he had issues with basic logic.

Funny a lot of people have said this about you. Speaking of which, I do have to wonder why you're here but Steam isn't. You're insulting people whenever things don't go your way and you're much more annoying.

Noonim (ID: c952b2)  112986

>>112985
Because the context was irrelevant, and your not knowing what a chauchat was only helped further explain the point of the analogy.

>Hey man you struck first. No doubt about that with your insults and stuff all because YOU'RE frustrated too.

Obviously.
But, unlike you, I do not have a solution on my end, beyond attempting to continue explaining extremely basic logic to someone who appears to be incapable of reading comprehension.

And that's entirely fair. If you left it at that, I wouldn't have an issue.
However; You didn't.
You stated in reply to my original post >>112955
>"That may be so but it still seems like it was hardly mentioned anywhere outside of chans and some random pony sites despite that."
You gave a reason for why you did not agree with what I had stated.
I gave a reason to explain that, you disagreed again, and so on, and so forth.
This isn't a "LOL I WAS SURPRISED WHEN I SAW A SPIDER", this is a issue of "SEEING A SPIDER IS SURPRISING", "Why?" "BECAUSE SPIDER", "But spiders aren't surprising", ect.
Essentially, you've started a discussion.
If you'd like to change it to just you being surprised for your own, nonsensical reasons, all power to you.
I'll think you're a dab daft, given that the reasons are nonsensical, but hey. They're yours.

>Exactly, it's really simple you should be able to get where I'm coming from by reading my posts but evidently not.

Where you're coming from, essentially, is that you're surprised a list of organs would contain the Thyroid.
It's not that I don't understand.
It's that I think it's daft.

>I mean are you? You've kind of been wondering why I thought the way I did, I gave you answers and you're still on about it. Also even more insults.

You are confused as to the origins of this conversation. See above.

Noonim (ID: c952b2)  112987

Let me give you a hypothetical:

Would it be surprising if, on a list of ponies from MLP, Derpy Hooves was included?

Incidentally, in my time of posting, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say I have a hard time with logic.
Plenty of people say I didn't listen, sure. Plenty of people say I'm too focused, definitely. Say I don't argue well, or understand facts, all that.
Logic was never really a weakness I've had.
Logic I follow rather dogmatically. As logical consistency is vital to maintaining one's principles.
