So, since they seem to be popular, gonna try this AMA thing Kreamy!TensaiToKoCountry code: ponychan.png, country type: customflag, valid: 4820

As it says on the tin, I'm giving this sort of thread a shot despite not really being anyone remotely important.

Well, as much as it seems like a good way for people to get to know each other, it'll be more of an Ask Me Almost Anything thread, since I'm not tagging it as "Mature Content".

I'll try to answer anything beyond that that doesn't seem like an attempt at identity theft and/or identity theft by Jonathan Frakes though. And even then I might just give a sassy answer to a sassy question.

Oh...this is a really hard one. There's so many ones I've liked, though if I had to pick one for the first question I'd probably say Nintendo Switch.

That's just because it pretty ergonomic and I can play it in bed though.

Favorite game is a lot trickier to pin down though...like it depends on the genre and even then for a few of those its hard to pin down beyond say the Series level.

Yeah, like some are easy, like MMO my favorite is Final Fantasy XIV.

But like...then JRPG is such a wide genre its hard to pick just one, even if I include packs of multiple games you can buy on the cheap together. Like Tales Of Symphonia/Tales of Graces double pack on PS4 is definitely up there, but I also really like Persona 5 Royal so far.

Survival Horror is definitely Fatal Frame 2, though Alan Wake is up there too as well as the first two Dead Space games.

I've played a loooot of games since starting with an NES though.

Pretty good choices there. Alan Wake was a game I remember being pretty hyped for back when it came out due to the developer (Remedy)
The game didn't quite live up to the expectations I had from Max Payne, but it was still pretty good in its' own right. Dead Space started out strong and then just died, very unfortunate.

Haven't played very many NES games myself. Most 3rd gen games just don't mesh with me, besides the standouts like Mega Man, Castlevania, Mario and such. I doooo kinda like some Master System games a bit more however, though other than the soundchip it's quite a bit stronger than the NES.

Oh, in that case its uh...Aphrodite, pretty sure, since that's the only myth I can think of where Best Girl was determined....well, I mean they all tried to cheat though, so maybe that doesn't count.

So...I'm really not sure, especially since...I think there's a whole competition every year to debate over this topic? Oh wait, now I remember though...

Best Girl is Haru. Or at least was a few years back?

>>4834
I just really like the Setup of Alan Wake's plot and the way it handles being a game about a story that is written by the main character. I really want to get their newest game too since it seems neat.

And yeah for me Dead Space 3 just doesn't sound interesting at all, cause the whole appeal was playing an engineer who isn't really a military man, instead of playing coop with a military man.

And yeah, I've got a few NES niche games I'm still fond of like the Startropics series, but most of the games I like are actually SNES/Genesis onward.

The plot was pretty neat, and the Twin Peaks inspired environment was nice as well. Kinda though Deadly Premonition rolled with that inspiration better, though.
It's fun as a co-op shooter, but really doesn't feel like a Dead Space game at all.
I've heard a bit about that game, but never checked it out myself. What do you like about it? What are some of you 16-bit favorites?

I kind of feel like Alan Wake plays better than Deadly Premonition myself but I guess I can see how they both have the same sort of inspiration, with Deadly Premonition taking a much more freeform feeling approach.

Well, one thing I like about it is that the main character is left handed, but also just there's something about a game where you start out fighting things with a yoyo and baseballs and similar stuff that has a special sort of charm to it imo? Its just a quirky game series that stands out because of being quirky more than anything. Definitely not a game with super amazing gameplay, but I like it well enough.

As for 16-bit stuff, I really like the Secret of Mana series, also a lot of the games Quintet was making for Enix though Terranigma was probably their most polished. Vectorman was neat though that series didn't last long, Chrono Trigger was amazing too.

There's probably a bunch of other ones I'm forgetting at the moment, but those are most of the ones that stand out. Well, and I still have a fondness for Tokimeki Memorial even though I had to use a guide to figure out anything at all cause it never got an American release. Its still one of the only series I can think of that really brings out the Sim aspect of Dating Sims, instead of mostly just being like...a novel with choices every so often.

Yeaaaah, the gameplay in Deadly Premonition was on the weaker side, though the PC version is a bit better.
That does sound kind of charming, I do think contemporary settings are neat for RPGs.
Ooh, nice choices! Vectorman was one I always had a soft spot for, even if it wasn't the greatest game out there.

Startropics is actually is more just action....platformerish games where you can find extra heart expansions and new weapon upgrades along the way.

Star Tropics - NES Gameplay Like I said its kind of an odd game, but NES games were still that era of everyone making really experimental stuff.

That said, on the other hand Terranigma is an RPG with at least some of it being a contemporary sort of setting. Since it has you travel through different eras in your quest to restore the world, with a few twists near the end of the game. Cause SNES games were still kind of willing to do odd stuff like that too, and Quintet made a lot of really neat games ranging from Action RPG, to City Building+Action Sequence games, to a more traditional turnbased RPG with a customizable battle robot.

There were a lot of interesting games on SNES because someone at Enix decided to throw money at some tiny publishing company that probably ended up disappearing by the time the Sega Saturn came out.

Now...they mostly just throw money at Squaresoft to make more Final Fantasy games, as their part of the merger was always just basically that.

I never actually owned a SNES, and only a few Genesis games (Which we did get because of the Sega Nomad which was basically a handheld Genesis) so a lot of these things are stuff I played way later, but its an era of games I feel tends to really hold up because of both stylistic stuff and well...most of the 2d game market dying off almost entirely until recently otherwise cause everyone was chasing that 3D Craze.

Well, I suppose there were a handful of 32 bit games along the way as well that stuck with 2d and did amazing stuff with it, like Rayman 1.

Oh interestingly enough, Startropics and its sequel were both Japanese made games that only ever had USA and European releases, because the guy in charge of the project was like maybe the only person at Nintendo Japan who has ever thought "Hey, maybe we shouldn't just make games for our own country and then have only the absolutely best selling ones get localized to anywhere else".

History of StarTropics - Gaming Historian

Was looking for something that might be a better review than just watching someone dink around with the gameplay.

...Hmm, Sega games though, trying to think of any really neat ones there that were Genesis era or earlier. I guess Shining Force was Genesis and that's one of the few Strategy RPGs I can beat. Phantasy Star III, Crusader of Centy was...interesting as well but not great....Ecco was neat but also frustrating with its button timing.

Well, one of my favorite Sega games on Sega consoles is NiGHTS though, even if I'm not very good at it.

4th gen was the end of an era, so it makes sense that a lot of the games hold up pretty well.
Saturn was pretty good for 2D games during the 5th gen, though it's a shame that a large portion of the library never made it out of Japan.

SEGA was never especially known for their RPGs, but they did pretty well with them. I like their arcadey titles myself.
NiGHTS is sooo good. Very great score attack game.

I tend to get picked last for a lot of other stuff, even though the teacher just split the class in random ways for this so its not like I was really getting picked anyways.

Lul, that would have been a perfectly acceptable answer.

Nah, or well, nothing in particular generally.

Might check and see if they've got any discounted candy after the fact, but on the more secular end of things it's kind of a holiday that's too much work if you don't have to try and figure out ways to tire out small children.

As a kid, back when several of us were a bit more churchgoing we'd do that whole end of things and then watch the old stop motion animated Easter Bunny is Coming to Town movie and just each have a basket with like Jellybeans and stuff, but we haven't done anything for quite a while beyond just maybe getting jellybeans on sale after the fact.

I know this is my thread for being asked questions instead of asking them, but do you have anything fun planned for Easter?

Im at my sisters house.
We see it more of a celebration of spring and like the festivities and see it more as an excuse to get together more than anything.
My mom is more into the religious stuff, but shes into like, everything like even fucking crystal vibrations and shit haha.
Shes actually going on about it as i type this haha.

Ether way, its a good excuse to see fam and beat my niece up haha.
We use to have big Italian holidays so it weird with the covid stuff.

Hehe, I kind of get a bit jealous of those extended family things because we've rarely lived close enough to ours to do anything like that.

>My mom is more into the religious stuff, but shes into like, everything like even fucking crystal vibrations and shit haha.

So the usual New Age blend of some sort of Christianity +"Eastern Mysticism"+whatever else. Well, not like that's not something I'm sort of used to as well.

Hmm, Halloween lately, since I can use it as an excuse to dress up, but I also like Christmas a lot...at least when I can actually afford to do my part. Like everyone in my family including me isn't the best with uh...words and stuff, so maybe its a bit of a petty seeming reason, but giving and receiving gifts amongst the people you care about, particularly gifts you know they'll be excited to get....is a pretty good way to get the feelings across that are hard to put into words otherwise.

Well, there's a lot of ways Christmas tends to suck too though, so I tend to say Halloween is my favorite even though too much of the candy is chocolate.

Halloween use to be my favorite, but i haven't really done much the past couple of years, and i dont like candy, so its kind of just another day now.
Yeah, thats the general vibe of her spirituality haha. Its all very... Cleshé.
There are pros and cons to having local family, some times i wish i didnt, but its also why i haven't moved away.

I maybe tend towards a more humanist viewpoint of things, since I'm not really a very spiritual person myself. There is joy in both the giving and the receiving if you take the time to break it down and look at the personal level to it, instead of a lot of stuff that focuses more on just the gratitude and/or greed of getting things.

Plus it makes "Santa" more of a title and example than an eternal magic fatman. Kind of like the whole Holiday Cheermeister thing from the Jim Carrey Grinch movie.

>What kind of dressing up do you do for Halloween?

Well, generally I just used it as excuses to wear cosplay, but lately I've realized that it's also the main day I can not look completely out of place in an overly frilly shirt, vest, and cloak. I can just pass it off as a Vampire costume, even though I actually just wear it cause it's my aesthetic.

On my moms side we normally do a "yankee swap" which is a lot less personal but also can create some funny situations.

Nah, I mostly just wear hoodies/coats/jackets and cargo pants. Since those are more "useful" of attire.

I don't really live a life where "flamboyantly over the top, yet also looking like I'm stuck centuries in the past" fits in with the dress codes of anywhere I could work or go. Well, and if I'm just staying home and not interacting with anyone anyways I tend to just want to wear comfy stuff instead.

Halloween gives me the excuse to get all dressed up in the sort of stuff I like though, even if its not practical attire.

A few things.

Though the first time was just "Liberal Arts" aka the "I hope I can go to a major college someday" major. Xp

Ended up working low end jobs after that to try and save up, then my life fell apart and I went back to school for a few IT training programs with the one that counted as a degree being in Network Administration.

And then the whole world fell apart, so I still don't know if this'll end up mattering any more than my previous attempts at anything.

Well, I took my time with it and then spent a lot of years outside college afterwards before trying to go back for stuff that was immediately useful to get a job, so...in the end I've kind of lost that headstart already pretty sure.

>What happened that caused your life to fall apart? I assume the 2nd thing you were referring to was covid?

Yeah, and....okay I've never really had it together outside of academics for a lot of reasons, so its not like the life that fell apart was anything like success in the first place...

But, even if I had a shitty retail job at a company that treated its employees terribly, and wouldn't be something that I could reasonably survive on on my own, I was able to save up some money and stuff living with my folks and keeping my bills low.

Up until the company made some really bad decisions trying to stay afloat and maybe were being lied to about expenses along the way and went bankrupt and got liquidated...and it all came crashing down with very little warning. And what little stability my life had otherwise sort of came crashing down with it.

Well, luckily my folks have been pretty understanding, and same with support structures that helped me go back to school, but I'm starting to feel like I'm just kind of a bad bet. Not that I can get away with just stopping trying even so though.

Unless the world is out to get me cause I'm not even allowed the mediocre things I just barely manage to get.

Well, that's probably just the lack of interpersonal skills and anxiety skewing my perceptions to turn a completely uncaring world into an actively hostile seeming one. I'm...working on it.

I'd already been back, for the IT stuff, cause I figure I'm pretty decent with fiddling around with both hardware and software....and lets face it society hasn't completely moved on from expecting that computer nerds are generally failures at social situations. So at the very least my chances should be hurt less by being a bit of a mess during interviews.

I just...kind of got all my certificates and diplomas related to my second time graduating from college....right around the time all the states were shutting down so I haven't really been able to test this theory of my rookie status being any more appealing in a "skilled" field.

You did alread mention the IT thing, i thought you meant you were going back once more, now im clear.
Yeah, i can imagine the world literally shutting down as you get your diploma might put a hamper on job prospects, but i would think IT would be one of the jobs that could be done fairly remotely, and with so many normies suddenly having to use new software and hardware from home, i think it would be a fairly in demand position. But, i could be wrong about that.

Do you have an idea of where you want to work?

I'm more suited to just being a side character who helps out and maybe just gets a single episode really anyways. Being a protagonist is too much pressure.

And yeah, its just that people like to do hiring face to face around here, so I'd probably have been fine if I'd managed to get into a job, but now they'll almost definitely want to still shake hands and stuff, and my folks don't all have their vaccines yet so I can't risk them getting sick just for an 'opportunity' instead of a 'guaranteed position'.

And uh...not anywhere in particular, just somewhere that gives me a decent wage and benefits instead of treating me like dirt, that seems like they feel some level of responsibility to their surrounding community....and will also hire me just on the promise that I'll work my way up into being one of their hardest working and most reliable employees despite my lack of field experience.

I mean, working at the local library would be nice, but my brother already works there and they've got kind of at least a guideline that says they can't hire family members of people who work there, even if those family members are a really good applicant.

Well, that's probably part of why I don't give answers that sell the interview though, cause a lack of ambition sounds like either a nervous lie or that you don't care, when really I just want to work and be able to live a comfortable life off that work where I don't have to worry about my financial security. As long as its something I don't actively hate that makes it so I could survive on my own its fine. Bonus points if I can feel like I'm helping people in the process.

But yeah I like giving those sorts of answers, in part because a fantasy book I once read pulled a similar thing with someone accidentally freeing a genie who had decided that after having had to wait so long, the person who found his container would just be allowed to choose how the genie would kill them.

With the character answering "Old age" for the death she wanted to pick and then giving the genie a bit of a talking to.

The reason why people re-fried beans is because in Mexico, you would make a large pot of beans and serve that for the week. Refrying them is a fast and easy way to reheat them. Specially when you can use like, bacon fat, peppers, and other things to spice it up.

My grandma makes re-fried beans but still keeps most of the pintos intact so it's not entirely mush

That had a party the opening night where I was doing my best to try to talk with people but as usual I couldn't figure out what most people were saying and had even more difficulty speaking up enough for anyone to hear me.
