With a quick trot and a warm, inviting smile shot towards her young charges, she entered into the classroom without so much as a word. Horn glowing bright as a single, dusty tome came flying, carefully, from the confines of its shelf, lightly upon the ancient expanse of the old oak desk.
Taking her place behind the desk, facing the front of the class, she sat herself down upon her haunches, and silently went about the task of opening the book before her, flipping from page after page in an effort to find the right chapter.
It did not take her long to come to the passage she had been meaning to find, and with another smile, a tiny glint in her eyes, she came to rest her gaze upon her students, voice as gentle and as courteous as was to be expected of an elder librarian, albeit twinged with a bit of youthful enthusiasm, the kind of which never truly left her since she took up the task of teaching
Welcome everypony, to ancient Equestrian history! I am your teacher, Miss Bookworm. I look forward to coming to know each and every one of you as the class goes on
Sitting herself upwards, she stepped out from behind her desk, to stand in front of the class. Speaking ever still in that gentle, yet excited tone
Now before we begin your introductions, for the sake of names and attendance, I just want to clear up a...common misconception about the subject material, as well as, for that matter, the often times misunderstood and undervalued pleasures of a good book.
As she spoke, her hoof pointed itself in the direction of the tome, sitting snug and secure on the surface of her desk
To many, the subject of ancient history is, for the most part, a boring, dreadful subject, filled with accounts of ponies, places, and events that happened so long ago, as to be little more then silly stories, at best, and at worst a list of facts that hardily has any bearing on our day to day lives
With a slight chuckle, and a mischevious grin, her horn glowed bright as the book came to pull itself upwards, its worn pages coming to face the rest of the class as she stepped slightly over to the side
[/i]What many don't know is that, much like curling up to a good book besides a fireplace, wrapped up in a blanket on a cold winter day, there is a certain....magic to the experience, something almost indescribable. Subtle at first....but as you get into it, as you start to lose yourself to those exciting stories, those details that go into building the foundations of life as we know it today....[/i]
With this said she could hold herself back no longer, horn glowing even brighter still as she cast her spell upon the pages, the words shimmering in a light that began to take on a life of its own, distorting, growing, until it could no longer be contained whiten the edges of the tome, projecting forward before the class in almost ethereal display of color, and brightness, the words seeming to come alive before them as they began to dance about the classroom, dancing around the awestruck students in a rather silly display before returning to the front of the class, becoming ridged and still as they made themselves large and bright enough for the entire class to see.
Standing beside the paragraphs, her smile twinged with a sense of satisfaction, she spoke again to her bewildered class
Well, those simple, boring words seem to take on a new life of their own! Above all, my goal for each of you, personally as students, is not just to learn the history of Equestria, but also to come to know the joy's of learning for yourself, for the sake of learning~ If I can teach you that, then I will have considered this course successful
Chuckling softly to herself, the first lines of the paragraph came to expand ever more, dwarfing all other lines of text as she came closer to the words
But that's hardily an excuse to slack off! Grades are still very important, and I expect each and every one of you to put forth your best effort! Remember this......now then before we begin digging just a little deeper into the meaning of these words, Lets get to know each other just a little better, if that's alright. We will start from the first row, down, starting on the left. I had already given you my name, now tell me, whats yours......
