As for the [rcv] tags that took all of two seconds to write, I clearly said, "I'm just scared, because you took this conversation in an illogical direction." I don't know why you assume joke tags mean anger, but when I clarified otherwise, you really shouldn't think that.

Which is the difference between my post and the OP's post: I clearly said, "This is not angry," when I posted it. There was no such clarification before I pointed out that that image is offensive.


As for anti-semitism / anti-fanfiction sentiments, I'll fully agree that they aren't the same thing. But as the OP's image wasn't obviously a joke, then it is comparable to throwing in a random, baseless attack to an unrelated question.

Considering that beta reading is what we do. In fact we have functions and IRCs and entire subsections dedicated to taking premature fics, and hammering out details that improve the okay to good, the good to great, and the great to exceptional.

But you didn't... you know, look at any of the places that would help. You didn't actually try to get the help you wanted. You functionally walked into H&R Block, shouted "Can somebody help me do my taxes?" and then left before taking a number.

As you may have gathered, threads are serious business in /fic/. Unlike the other boards, /fic/ tends to play host to long-term threads. In addition, threads tend to cycle fairly slowly in relation to the rest of ponychan. So, there’s a good chance yours may stick around for a while.

To be fair, 90% of the sticky refers to steps on how one would get their story reviewed, and that's not what OP is looking for.

He's looking for recommendations for a certain type of fic he'd like to read. The sticky, while including a few links to places where fanfiction can be found, does nothing to help him pinpoint what he is looking for. Sure, he can go to places such as EqD and use their fiction archive filter to narrow down the tags, making it easier to find the type of fic he wants (sticky says nothing about this, btw), but instead of sifting through stories that way and trudging through comments(*shudder*) trying to see if the story fits the bill before reading it, he opted to make a thread to get some recommendations, and gave some examples of other fics he's read to help narrow it down. This isn't /ficreviews/, I don't see how a post asking for recommendations on a certain genre of fic he's looking for in any way breaks the 'rules' of the board. In fact, if he asked this question anywhere else on the site, the thread would most likely get moved here.

Making a thread such as this can indeed be called lazy, but I'm pretty sure making a reply solely dedicated to calling him out on that is neither helpful to the board or ponychan as a whole.

Just my 2 bits, I'm not a /fic/ regular or anything, so feel free to toss my opinion out the door, the replies here just irked me. Props to those who actually gave recommendations. As for me, the two fics OP mentioned are the only ones I've read/can think of... I just looked around and couldn't find any that are specifically sad like those two. There are some daww/baww worthy shipfics, but dunno if that's what you're looking for, OP.

That is part of the sticky, and that is the first complete thing you can read from it. In other words, it's visible enough to find it. Indulging him only makes it seem like that isn't there, in addition of making a thread which will live for months in this board with much use, and then has the chance of being revived by a spambot. Thus, posting answers here might be a good, fast way of solving his problem, but it leaves us with a thread which won't be cleaned up by the natural forces of the imageboard because this board doesn't work like a normal board.

Now, the sticky is admittedly bad, but the mods have declared that we can't discuss changing it, and that they will. This was said over four months ago.
