Also, I don't really know CR, but I bet they're schedule is pretty flexible. They allowed our earlier stuff to go long, after all. And if our new stuff is too short, they can just fill in the extra space with random songs, can't they?

A lot of radio scheduling has to do with commercials, I think, but CR doesn't have any. (Aside from the spoofs and donation requests)

You're still using visual stage directions, so the script loses something in audio. For instance: >"The room echos with the mutters and whispers of its occupants. To the north is a far grander platform upon which sits one Pony who is clearly important and his two guards."

The audience will hear the whispers and echoes, but they won't see any of the other details. So when the Master starts talking it'll be unclear where he is. Granted, the echoes will make him sound like he's far away, but it won't be clear if he's on the other side of a big empty room, or if he's up on a platform with guards and obviously holding authority. This stuff needs to come across through dialogue (or narration).

Again, with

That's not going to come across in audio.

He wasn't personally threatened (having been offworld under the guise of Yana), and it's not like he cares about innocent life (he just confessed to killing a universe in order to escape the time lock), and he furthermore doesn't care about Time Lord life in particular (he intended to merge them into his "Master Race" during the The End of Time episode). But maybe he's just trying to make the Doctor feel guilty? hm...

The Master can show up and whatever, but a whole Empire has world-changing consequences, and I'd prefer not to have to deal with those consequences for the rest of the series. I'd rather this story end with Gallifrey going back into the Time Lock.

So...yeah. Once again I'm proposing major changes. Thoughts?

Trust me, it won't. I know exactly what I'm doing with the audio in each scene. I've had every detail playing out in my head while I'm writing. If I was going to be communicating this to another audio editor then more audio related description would make sense, but seeing as I am going to be putting this together extra audio detail does not matter.

He is Lord High President of Gallifrey addressing a wanted war criminal in front of the entire High Council. There is a code of conduct and he does not want to break it, drawing any extreme attention to himself from the council could break the spell of the memory scoop.

Not only that but The Master's personality does not have to be exactly the same as Harold Saxon's, Time Lords' personalities can change drastically between regeneration. Just look at Romana. Romana I was a snooty, stuck-up and generally unpleasant person where as Romana II was essentially a female version of the 4th Doctor. I think his madder side shows in the monologue.

That whole first part of the monologue is just meant to be The Master playing into The Doctor's guilt, he is not actually annoyed but the Memory Scoop needs a weak mind in order to meld.

The story I'm going with is that the Genesis Ark does not recognize The Master as a high-enough ranking Time Lord. Where as The Doctor was one of the highest ranking combatants in the Time War.

No, we're talking about the event at the end of Series 4. The Daleks killed hundreds of humans in their invasion, it is fair to assume that they did that to the other populated planets too.

That's what Supreme assumes will happen, he does not know that he will be stopped by Ten in the future.

Again this is the Series 4 event, but maybe millions is a bit of an over-estimation. Thousands, perhaps.

Kind of answered your own question there, but not EVERY Time Lord was corrupt by the end of the war. It was mainly just Rassilon and his own personal council. Anypony who spoke up against him was de-materialized. Very few of the high council actually wanted Rassilon's plans to go ahead.

He doesn't doom the universe, his past self has already stopped the events which he is setting in motion. Not only that but now I think about it if he does not set this event in-motion the Doctor Donna would never be created, and that is a fixed point. So there are two fixed points that The Doctor needs to set in motion.

Uhm... The decency of the Dalek spirit? I don't know, I think this can kind of be glossed over. It's not a big deal. Put it down to the Void Ship's connection to the universe growing weaker if you want.

I mean really they did the same thing in Victory of the Daleks.

I think it could open up so many doors though, so many interesting things that could happen. This was kind of the point of the story from the beginning, to bring Gallifrey back. In-fact that was pretty much all my initial pitch to Squeak consisted of.

I'm going to be honest Suns, I think you're looking too far into this now. I mean at first I could see the continuity issues but I'm fairly sure they're all ironed out now.

I've had like three people who have never watched Doctor Who in their lives look over the scripts and they told me that there wasn't anything they found particularly confusing (aside from the obvious problems with not knowing the basics about Doctor Who.)

OK! Few tips from what I have so far.

Love how you make a joke of explaining how Galifrey was freed.

I think you should cut this and say something simpler like.

Love the first part! Much better! Made complete sense and didn't introduce too many things in a confusing way, while also explaining other things by not explaining them.

On to part two:

I think you should outright state that The Moment was a combination of the Reality Bomb and the De-Mat gun.

And I LOVE the speech that summarizes "The End of Time". It was incredibly well done and didn't come off as exposition, instead it felt a lot more like character growth. It's a nostalgia trip for Whovians and useful and interesting information on the Doctor to non-whovians. Good job!

Another instance where the looping time thing comes up. It's a detail that hasn't been pinned down by either the cannon, or DW fannon from what I can tell, and I feel it's a detail that could be easily left out.

And if there was no spacey-wacey threat and the mere presence of Gallifrey doesn't doom the other universe, then what was everypony talking about near the beginning?

That's because they were weak and had no resources to speak of. They were nearly killed by Danny Boy, and only got out of that with the bomb gambit. Once the bomb is disabled, Danny Boy can probably just kill them if they stick around. And, failing that, who knows what else the Doctor might come up with? There's only like 6 Daleks on that ship.

In contrast, the Daleks here have a gigantic army in the form of the now-activated Genesis Ark.

Aha! I understand this enough to answer!

The Doctor goes over it really quickly just before he's discovered then reiterates it during his monolouge in the end. Essentially, the returning of the Daleks with the Ark in the Void Ship to our universe was enough to counteract the leaving of Galifrey from that universe.

He isn't actually Lord President though, there is a ceremony in which control is handed over. The Master never went through that, he simply tricked everypony into THINKING he was Lord President.

Fine ideas, but...what's wrong with the shorts we already have? They'd work just fine for CR. In fact, they can basically be treated as songs and played at random from time to time.

Sounds good. Should I take it that the draft script I submitted earlier has been abandoned, then? Or will we use it some other time?

Also, you mentioned the hosts interacting with the Doctor during the short. Are you planning to do the whole thing live? Or will the hosts record their parts in advance?

As for the shorts I suppose we could but it might be a bit random. Though they could toss them in as buffers on Fanfic Friday. That way it'd fit in with the theme, and people listening to the station for music wouldn't be interrupted. The main reason specialized shorts would be better is because the others are rather long, people listening to the station for background ambiance, or who aren't whooves fans might get annoyed if suddenly they're stuck listening to seven minutes of something unrelated. Shorter more to the point things would work far better.

On the script thing, the DD said it was a bit short, and it might be cooler if it meshed better with the interview itself. So I came up with the idea after a little back and forth. In anycase the short will be recorded before the airing, and the hosts will be supplying there lines same as VA's. Lauren and Jamjar will be the main interviewees, but everypony will get at least a little screen time in the most hilarious way possible. It should be great fun.

But the important part about "having a place" is having a starting place, isn't it? If we're on every Thursday at 3pm (or whatever), then all the fans can just tune in every Thursday at 3pm. Whether every episode is the same length as every other episode seems less relevant.

If we need to pad, perhaps we could have an optional segment after each episode, unconnected with the main plot. For instance, the Doctor and Twilight could respond to questions and comments that fans have emailed in to us. (Because apparently the TARDIS email client can break the fourth wall). This would be easy to write, and you could tailor it to a pretty specific runtime, to even out the length of the episode that came before it. (So there might be a 26 minute episode followed by a 4-minute "extra" segment, for instance)

Sorry for the inactivity, I've been pretty I'll the last few weeks and as such have not been able to make much of a start on episode 2. Will hopefully do some work on it this week.

But yeah, I just read the interview skit's script and I must ask; is there any particular reason for Lyra and Caramel to be The Doctor's companions? I was going to suggest changing Lyra into Derpy as I don't think I've ever really seen Lyra as The Doctor's companion before and Derpy is normally his companion in people's head canons.

Pinkie is there, then one set for Derpy (just in case), and Lyra is really long. She's got the lines in a (vaguely, lol) Irish accent in two or three different pitches, and American with one more sarcastic variant. For some reason the Lyra in my head either sounds like Bon Bon or a punk. >_>

Anyway, feedback, as always, is welcome. I did the takes in one sitting, so I won't be surprised if I need to redo something.

Also, I got new speakers but they suck worse than my old ones. Any recommendations for good speakers that won't break the bank? My old ones have a shorted wire, which made it so only one side or the other would play. : / The new ones just have terrible quality, and everything sounds flat, and I don't know if I'm always like this or if they're emphasizing every pop and rumble in my voice, but I feel like my work is sub-par lately. D:

Also, LG, any advice on how to reduce pop? I have the windscreen that came with my mic: a basic round one that stands away from the stand a little. I also know enough to speak a bit "around" the mic piece, like I do in storytelling with lapel mics, but mine is sensitive enough that if I speak too far away, you can tell. Should I do something else? The popping is worse than everrrrr. ;_;

It went well, though there was some confusion.

Originally it was going to be that we'd start with Lauren recording live, then we'd skip over the skit (which we're recording on our own time), and then we'd conclude with another live session for all the non-Lauren people to talk about themselves for a bit. But once we actually finished Lauren's part, it was decided to end it there and record everything else (including the post-skit stuff that was supposed to be live).

So now I'm going to record a couple sentences about myself and the project to be inserted into the post-skit section.

I learned a couple things from listening to Lauren's part:
1. Lauren is not actually British
2. Lauren is a voice in EVA. Granted, it was a small part; she was Misato's answering machine. But still. Wow.

Well, the only upcoming roles I can see in the six planned first season episodes are for Treble, a bit part in Chords of Chaos, and Viva, a pony in Shadows of the Lunar Republic. Viva, I'm pretty sure is going to Shai, so that leaves Treble. I could give an audition for the role, but it is a rather small one. Lunar Republic is mostly unfinished, but it's about half done and the only characters I've used so far are The Doctor, Twilight, Pinkie and Viva. Celestia and Luna pop up later scene, but we have almost entirely male applicants so those roles will probably be split between Lauren and Shai.

But, if we're looking really far ahead there's quite a few male roles coming up. We could outline a few of them and see who pops up, but warn them they might have a bit of a wait. I'd be fine with this.

I emailed Everfree radio, (Using Kenobi's recommendation) though I haven't heard a reply yet, I'm pretty sure they'll be fine with it. As for exclusives with Celestia Radio, what will most likely happen is that Everfree radio will air the plays at a later time than Celestia Radio. Giving them the first shot at the ratings.

Hey guys, Jam said I should pop in and say hello! I would love to do some work for the Radio Plays. I don't know how much work I can put forward, being as it's my last semester of senior year of college, but I'll certainly do what I can.

Wonderful, extremely happy to have you onboard!, Welcome to the team lovely to have you. The posters will probably be enough considering the fact that you're a student. A slideshow for the finale might be cool. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

As for when we need them, we're very flexible. How's three weeks? If you need more time just give me a shout, really we're good with anything.

If you'd like to write an episode be my guest! I just ask that you read the previous scripts and make sure it fits within cannon. 6000 words is the general benchmark and equals up to about 30 minutes.

If you'd like to write a short you're also welcome, it can be as long or as short as you wish. We go for light humor, but do your thing.

And of course you can voice any VN that come up. They do speak a lot in the play. But your voice will be altered by QDbrony to make it sound more menacing and growly. The script for the episode based on your comic should be out by the end of the week, I'll run it by you to make sure you're alright with it.

Yep, 'Shadows of the Lunar Republic' is based on CT's comic. I mentioned it a ways back, but it's easy to miss. Generally it's the same plot, except the Doctor and Twilight have already met, and we work Celestia in a bit more, and Pinkie pops up. Same basic story though. It should be wonderful!

Here's the first pass at number 12. I think there is a problem with the Ponies looking up at the Weeping Angels, especially because they are looking into the background, but I don't think the disconnect is too huge. I also think that placing them in the smoke is a good way of simplifying the composition.

Hey guys, I figured I could do some cross promotion! Here's the deal

I have an art live-stream that I run every Friday night at 9:00 PM EST. (That's pretty late for those of you in the UK) I think it would be a great Idea to have Jam and some others on my show to talk about the radio plays, the fandom, and general pony things. I'm sure if I get two or three of you guys I can definitely get an EQD news post. I normally only have a dozen or so viewers a week, but with an EQD post, I see that number multiplying a great deal. Working out the composition for the second poster.

Squeak, a good thing to keep in mind when arranging posters is that a composition where two characters are looking at each-other results in either a straight profile (which is flat and boring) or inevitably one character facing away from the viewer. Some scenes make for a poor poster layout. If you want to come up with some compositions that are a bit simpler that would be good. I'll keep fleshing this one out, but for example, if I were to draw Twilight and the Doctor looking at the moon for episode 4, with the moon in the shot, they would have to have their back turned to the viewer, which just makes for a bad presence. See if you can rework the descriptions a bit. just some food for thought!

Hmmm I see your point. In my head The Doctor would be on one side of the poster, while Twilight and the WA would be on the other as they tried to drag her off screen. But that is a straight profile, which could be a touch boring. Perhaps a better layout would be if Twilight were floating above the Doctor, Pinkie and Spike, surrounded by the three WA's, eye's glowing, energy shooting everywhere etc?
As for episode four I thought that The Doc and Twilight looking away from the viewer might add a feeling that something's not quite right. Sort of a 'Look Out!' kind of thing. The moon in the center being the main focus, the Doctor and Twilight sitting next to each other, and a whole mess of scary shadows slinking towards them while it appears they're totally unaware of the encroaching danger.
Of course this being the episode based on your comic I want you to have the most input on it's design. So perhaps something different, maybe The Doctor,Twilight and perhaps Viva running towards the viewer through the abandoned Republic, various VN's chasing them as the darkness grows. That could also be very cool. Tell me what you think.


Also thanks again, the sound editing is thanks to our marvelous sound director Dash, who really knows his stuff, and makes things, as his namesake would say 20% cooler. No I'm willing to use tracks from other series as well; I've used a few tracks from Series 4 and the 2009 specials in Episodes 1 & 2 as well as one or two from the Sarah Jane Adventures. I also used the first version of The Doctor's Theme in the scene where Twilight and Spike first locate the scene, though I kept it pretty quiet so you may not have heard it.

But keep in mind that until Series 5 they only released the "best" tracks from the series meaning there is very little incidental music from series 1-4 for me to use. Most of the series 1-4 stuff is the memorable tracks where 5 & 6's soundtracks have a lot more ambient stuff.

When picking a track I normally scan through pretty much every one until I find something I like, though really a lot of the older series' stuff seems out of place save for the few memorable tracks.

Sorry to double-post, but I have some opinions on "Number 12 Part 1."

-I really missed hearing something similar to the opening titles. And the perfect part would be Twilight exclaiming, "My library!" and galloping off. *Snarl-swoosh* *Doodly-doo* *Doodly-doo* The theme really helps set the tone for me for Doctor Who(oves).

We don't depict the Doctor before his regeneration; we depict him more-or-less after the regeneration, when he needs to nap for a bit to finish the process.
